51% of Colorado voters are unaffiliated. That doesn't mean they're "winnable". Not all unaffiliated voters are the moderate centrists people always paint them as. Many very much align with a political party but due to our open primary system in Colorado have no need to register with a party. Many like the label unaffiliated feeling it frees them from any responsibility or ties to a party. But, they always vote along party lines. There are also some who are unaffiliated because neither party goes far enough to the left or right to their liking. So, the number of true moderates registered as unaffiliated is probably far less than 51% and the idea of winning just by uniting the unaffiliated vote has some complications.
