This might be a stretch but Toby refusing to translate to a language unless he can be inside the translators asshole follows the pattern that he values his Themes and Such more than his fans
Same with not letting Togore win on the 10 yr stream (donating 100k) or no lightner merch

Just don't mask that with other explanations like it is a logistical problem, or like your vision and intentions didn't change and morph in the 10 YEARS of the release of one of the biggest games ever

@MinModulation I remember reading his commentary about it & how it would degrade what the comic srrip was& it stuck with me as a kid
I'm a fan of a lot of series w/merch that I've bought, but I often feel kinda aware about how the merch can sometimes hollow out the art

@MinModulation He did hire a japanese translator, and plenty of works have been very respectfully translated into other languages without the creator speaking them. Translators are generally highly educated professionals with a lot of experience translating feeling and authorial intent.

Finding it easier to relate to 1st person helps drop their guard, which makes re-reads when you notice every time their perspective on something is altered even better

@aiboufueled @bogwitchbooks First-person doesn't have to be you though. I'd argue first-person is the BEST way to look at things from other POVs. You can create someone quite unlike you and, because you're closer to their thought process than third-person, they can unfold quite surprisingly.

@glamorues A really good web serial (novel that was released one chapter at a time online) set in a superhero world.
The best way I can reccomend it is that despite being very long, it has an incredibly satisfying ending.
