Kirk embodied the American value of debate over violence and he was killed for it. It was the most public assassination since JFK. Memorializing Kirk disincentivizes similar violence because it would mean similar memorialization of the one they wish to silence. He lived his values providing a much needed example to young people. And, he showed what can be accomplished through political engagement. I always felt that the biggest problem in politics is that people are debating over things they haven't bothered to learn about or engage with. I wasn't a regular listener of his, but his impact was undeniable. The list and number of people who showed up to his funeral is proof of that. Kirk was a genuinely good man raising a christian family. Following his example would mean a well informed, robust debate of the issues and candidates instead of the popularity contest and tribalism we usually get.
