“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness [except if it is related to what people are upset about on Twitter, and then you better not quote it]”
Josh Daws@JoshDaws

This passage is repeatedly abused by leftists for the purpose of emotionally manipulating Christians. It’s such a problem that @alisa_childers had to address it in a video a few weeks BEFORE the Piper controversy. To casually toss it out there without proper explanation is negligent at best.

@seanfeucht Isaiah 1:7 is NOT about immigrants, but about covenant judgment. Isaiah was rebuking Judah’s rebellion. The “foreigners” in that verse were invading armies like Assyria, not families crossing borders for opportunity. That text describes military conquest, NOT migration policy.

"Your country is desolate, your cities burned with fire; your fields are being stripped by foreigners right before you, laid waste as when overthrown by strangers." Isaiah 1:7 Christians have been warned about the miserable bondage that comes with illegal immigration.
John Piper@JohnPiper

“You shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.” Leviticus 19:34 Christians know the miserable bondage we were all in.

@seanfeucht John Piper quoted Scripture, and you’re upset because you understand exactly what it means, and it conflicts with what you want to believe. The devil is a liar and hates God's word. What kind of spirit is in you @seanfeucht?

@EWErickson Why is it always about the group. Or some petty technical point. You never demonstrate that you can have an honest discussion with someone that you disagree with. When did that happen?

When Rubio was in the Senate, he’d quote the scripture reading of the day and the Left would freak out and rage. Some did that today to a pastor who quoted scripture. But it was the progressive right that freaked out.

The more I think about Piper’s sojourner post and it’s obvious connection to his opinion about our illegal immigration crisis, the more I’m convinced that Piper actually DOES know that he’s not applying a proper hermeneutic to that passage. I think that if he were in a room with Ben who presented to him everything in this excellent article, Piper would eventually agree after he was forced to drill down on the text. Ultimately it would become clear that his issue is with Trump’s tone or the manner in which criminal illegals are removed or any other number of “yeah but…” arguments. If pushed, I think Piper would agree that the Bible is very clear about the requirements for the sojourner but he just feels kind of icky about it. It’s ultimately a lack of courage rather than a lack of understanding. “And now, Lord, look upon their threats and grant to your servants to continue to speak your word with all boldness.” – Acts 4:29

I am deeply concerned about the rise and return of anti-Muslim rhetoric, and I encourage Christians and civic leaders to reject it. I encourage those promoting this kind of rhetoric to understand it is not just some tactic in a political game or strategy, but has real, disastrous consequences for real people and communities.

I’m becoming convinced that America will be saved by the convergence of the Anglo/Hispanic. There is an intense pride, that certain Hispanic groups possess (particularly those that are of predominantly Iberian admixture) that produces the “strongman.” This coupled with Anglo organization and martial prowess may be the source a true American Imperium. But this can only work if Europe is revitalized and honored as a true ally and not a subject.

@AndrewTWalker I am not sure in what world Marco Rubio would not be included. "The concept is debated, with some, like C. Jay Engel, arguing it encompasses "Blacks of the Old South" and "integrated Native Americans," while others see it as , racialized, or nativist concept of a white republic

A student asked me this week where I stand on the “Heritage American” category. I can appreciate certain instincts behind it, even while judging the category itself to be too constrictive. Rubio’s speech clarifies why. By the narrow standards of those who speak of “Heritage Americans,” Marco Rubio does not qualify. Yet he has just delivered one of the most quintessentially American speeches in our history, uniting what some in our age insist is an unbridgeable chasm between propositionalism and peoplehood. It’s not. A people embodied a proposition and the proposition helped propel a people. Let’s resist the urge to forge a false dichotomy between these categories—if only because the answer to their unity is found in Americanism.

🚨 BREAKING: Sec. Marco Rubio just told Europe to their faces we are bound by CHRISTIAN FAITH, and must fight the climate cult and mass migration Based Marco! This is what I voted for! 🔥 “We are bound by centuries of shared history, Christian faith, culture, heritage, language, ancestry.” “In a pursuit of a world without borders, we opened our doors to an unprecedented wave of mass migration that threatens the cohesion of our societies, the continuity of our culture, and the future of our people.” “To appease a climate cult, we have imposed energy policies on ourselves that are impoverishing our people.” “We made these mistakes together. And now, together, we owe it to our people to face those facts and to move forward to rebuild.” “This is why President Trump demands seriousness and reciprocity from our friends here in Europe.” “We are connected spiritually and we are connected culturally…we know that the fate of Europe will never be irrelevant to our own.” 🔥🔥🔥

Lol, no, you don't believe in its authority. You believe in the authority of your tradition & whatever hermeneutic serves its interests. That's why you renegotiate, marginalize & ignore the biblical passages that conflict with that tradition & the currently preferred hermeneutic.
