On 19th November 2025, @Mwarpkenya Garissa office, under the #RITAIProject, brought together #community groups and #religious leaders for a powerful one-day capacity strengthening training on the Access to Information Act, 2016. A detailed session on the Access to Information Act followed, breaking down: ✨ The constitutional #right to access public #information ✨ What public #institutions should proactively disclose ✨ How #citizens can request information ✨ Response #timelines, appeal options, and complaint procedures ✨ The role of #oversight institutions in #monitoring compliance The discussion on #Garissa County’s current status revealed ongoing #concerns, delayed access to county #documents, limited #proactive disclosure, and inconsistent responsiveness. Participants explored #opportunities to #advocate collectively for #transparency and improved #accountability. The conversation deepened as members voiced growing concerns about #insecurity, rising #GBV cases, and heartbreaking incidents of #defilement. They linked these issues to the increasing use and trafficking of #drugs, which continue to fuel social harm and instability.
