As part of their commitment to improving foundational literacy and numeracy in SSA, HCA’s Board of Advisors have issued an urgent call-to-action to decision makers to prioritize FLN. 9 out of 10 children in SSA are learning poor. This is an alarming statistic #HCACallToAction

Foundational learning is not just an education issue. It is the foundation of every development agenda. And it cannot be left to educators alone. It must be treated as a national priority.

This week 🇰🇪 will be holding a National Foundational Conference marking a significant step towards the implementation of its commitment to end the learning crisis. 🇰🇪 Literacy has improved 20.3% - 44.7% since 2020 and numeracy rates from 15.8% - 28.1%. There's room to improve.

This Thursday, alongside ADEA, we convene the 10th Africa Foundational Learning Ministerial Coalition. Ministers will align on implementation priorities, including FLIGHT, AFLAI, South–South exchange, and preparations toward FLEX 2026. 🗓️ 26 March ⏰ 12:00 GMT By invitation.
