.@USGS #ShakeAlert confirms that the earthquake alerts that were delivered at 8:06am are cancelled. There was no M5.9 earthquake near Carson City, NV. We are currently looking into why the alerts were issued. We'll provide more information when we learn more @Cal_OES @CAGeoSurvey

@chen_zhiang That's a good question, but I believe the answer is no. The reason though is more likely due to bombardment by asteroids than moonquakes.

@HuskerAllen are there any precarious boulders nearby?

My grad student's paper on thermal moonquake classification is out! Yuri Tamama found quakes originating from lunar boulders for the first time. Specifically from the one in the photo.
