I didn’t ignore it, I didn’t see it. The fact you think people are spending more because of the standing charge is ludicrous.
EV drivers were already saving huge amounts of money, and it just became even more.
I’ll happily pay a few extra pence for the standing charge and peak rate.
Having the six hour off peak window at 3.5p completely destroys your argument.
@JordanEVGuy I'm not sure where you're getting 3.5p from, Octopus want 8p off peak which I agree is cheap. But 48p standing charge vs 24p EDF, plus the additional day rate wipes out any savings for charging my EV. I'm not against what the point you're trying to make but do the sums.
@JordanEVGuy All good, however, I was investigating the Octopus EV tariff as I just brought my first EV, whilst the overnight rate is indeed cheaper the day rate and standing charge are much higher so overall not really a saving against the fixed tariff I have with EDF.
Charging an EV at home just got even cheaper.
From April 1st, something BIG is happening.
Overnight EV charging for new Octopus customers will be just 5.5p/kWh.
That means a FULL charge will cost just £3.30 for most EVs.
What’s EVEN BETTER though…
Existing Intelligent Octopus Go customers could now pay just 3.49p…
Making a full charge just £2.10.
Which works out to around 1p per mile.
That’s not a typo.
Meanwhile, a 40mpg petrol car at £1.45/litre is sitting around 16-18p per mile.
If you’re switching to Octopus, use my link and we share £100 credit: share.octopus.energy/taupe-cat-442
I sort of understand that gouging people who choose to heat their home with oil is happening. I don’t understand why those people aren’t just getting a heat pump quote
@AvonandsomerRob That's all well and good but the standing charge of these tariffs are much higher as are the day rates when you use most electric so overall not cheaper.
With an Octopus Energy EV tariff, you can charge your car with 250 miles of range for £6, using cheap overnight rates of 7p/kwh.
That's around 275 miles per gallon of petrol, equivalent.
Why is there still a resistance to Electric Vehicles?
Don’t vote get islam.
That’s exactly what happened here.
You don’t believe in the system or think your vote counts?
Fine, but they do and they’re making it work in their favour.
Sit at home and watch them take every seat. Then come and tell us how you like that system.
Except you won’t be able to.
If 50% of the population can’t be bothered to vote they are hardly likely to rise up to defend our country when the fighting starts.
This country will be lost due to apathy.
Nigel Farage says he would cut pint prices by 5p through slashing beer duty by 10% … funded by reintroducing the two-child benefit cap
Who would vote to plunge kids into poverty for a cheaper pint?

I can't believe I'm having to write this.
The only people who should run Gaza, are the people of Gaza.
Not some line up of rich, white war criminals. Not Blair, not Putin, not Trump, nor any other villain who wants in.
Palestine is for the Palestinians.
Free Palestine 🇵🇸
@TiceRichard The Police & Crime Commissioner is probably under the same influence the as the Chief Constable, that's the only reason I can think of why he hasn't been sacked.
The West Midlands Police Chief Constable kowtowed to thugs, abandoned Jewish Community & blamed Jewish fans. Then he lied to try to cover it up.
He should resign or be fired by the Police & Crime Commissioner.
The UK should offer to send troops to Greenland as part of a joint NATO operation under Danish and UK command.
If Trump is serious about security, he'd agree to participate and drop his outrageous threats.
Tearing the NATO alliance apart would only play into the hands of Putin.
34 people who knew Farage at school say they witnessed racist or antisemitic behaviour.
When that many accounts line up, it’s not simply hearsay.
It tells you EXACTLY who he’s always been.
