🚨🗣️ Mike Dean [former PL referee]: “They will complain but they didn't complain when Dalot wasn't sent off in the Manchester derby. “I think the two incidents are completely different. Maguire is a dead cert, it's a simple decision. It's easy - it's a sending-off all day. “The first one could have been a penalty but there was doubt about how he went down - that's why he hasn't given it. I could see why he didn't give it. And I can see why it's referee's call. “I understand they have made a complaint but you have to backtrack as well because they have had a few calls [in their favour] this year that have gone on referee's call.” #MUFC [Soccer Saturday]

VAR is a legal tool used to swing the outcome of a match. Get rid of that fraud. It can be argued it's used for match fixing. Regardless of the team you support, what we saw last night Bournemouth vs Manchester United was a blatant fraud. Was there no one in that VAR office who can objectively say that, if we did not give a pen for the Amad incident just few minutes ago, we can not give a pen for the Maguire incident. It's just common sense. Absolutely disgrace. @premierleague #VAR @FA_PGMOL @ManUtd #MUFC #Bournemouth @SkySportsPL

Manchester United set to make a formal complaint today to PGMOL after the failure to award a second penalty in last night’s draw with Bournemouth. Club will argue Amad was clearly wrestled to ground with no attempt to play the ball. Manchester United are angry at what they perceive to be a clear VAR error. It is also noted similar penalty incidents were treated differently in the same game leading to Harry Maguire being sent off. #MUFC also unhappy with nine minutes of added time being played in the game.

I call on all African nations to boycot CAF for this ridiculous and meaningless decisions. I agree Senegal should be fined but to strip them of the title is a joke. When they walked out of the field, if the referee had ended the game at that point, then you can award that final to Morocco. But that was not the case, they came back on the field, the highly controversial penalty awarded to Morocco was played, a Moroccan player missed the penalty and the game continued. The 90 minutes was concluded, the game went into extra time, then Senegal scored a fantastic legitimate goal to win the match and deservedly crowned the AFCON champions. The thinking is, if Morocco had scored the penalty and won the match, what would be the punishment for Senegal ? A fine or a ban. That should still be the punishment now. Furthermore, how did Morocco got to the finals ? From the QF, SF and the finals, there were several questionable decisions going the way of Morocco. It's such a shame to see that poor level of officiating. Morocco has a fantastic team, they do not need to cheat their way to a trophy. Let us look at the conduct of some of the Moroccan players. It was abysmal seeing some of their players stealing their opponents goalkeeper's towel. Fans and ball boys doing it is bad enough but to see players doing is bringing the game into disrepute. Morocco have done very well hosting some of the best tournament in Africa. However, hosting a tournament does not give you the right to cheat or be hostile to other nation. We saw that in the women's AFCON when they lost the finals to the Super Falcons of Nigeria. We saw the antics. This is sports, it's football, it's not life and death. CAF, rescind this decision now. Senegal 🇸🇳 are the real and true champions of the AFCON25. Here is a question for the Moroccan players and coaching staff, are you happy to accept such a tainted title ? #CAF #Senegal 🇸🇳 #Morocco 🇲🇦

This is down to coaching. These football club with Cat 1, 2 or cat 3 academy, source all the young players from as little as age 7, they train them for 10 year plus but majority of those players are nowhere to be found. The question is: what are they coaching those kids in the academy ? Why is their success rate very poor ? In any other industry, if you train 100 people for 10 years and you can only get 5 out of 100, that industry is a net net negative. Here is how some of this club run the academy. They sell two or three of their academy players at age 17yrs to 21yrs for a couple of million £, that money is enough to continue running the academy. They don't care if the player makes it at the club or not because they can just go and buy a another player for £50m and the circle continues. Back to coaching in the academy. The kids are over coached, they cannot express themselves, they must pass the ball a certain way or make a certain runs, they're constantly being judged, the big lads gets the pass and the nepo kids gets fill the academy. They prioritize 1v1, a kid who can dribble the most is the king, then the kid, grows a bit to under 13, then they'll coach dribbling out of the kid, The kids are left confused, before you know it, they're out of the academy. This rant is not about the result from the UCL, it's a rant that is deep rooted in the failures of the academy. The FA must look into it. Let the kids play football, show flair, take people on, be creative and imaginative, let them make mistakes and learn from it, that is the only way we can get top top players. ✌️

The reasons behind PL travails in the UCL (really only Newcastle acquitted themselves well) are far more nuanced than simply a question of fatigue. Also issues around coaching and playing styles, grappling and goalkeeping. But the schedule will come under scrutiny... 1/2
