@crisisofconsc It's like they just want them to give up on life, die, and vacate the apartment. My husband is from the UK. There, the NHS insists everyone uses their app on a computer or smartphone to make doctor appointments. They just want the elderly to go away. 😡

The place where my grandma lives in Boca Raton is not a retirement community but an apartment complex but still has an older crowd (because duh, Boca Raton...). They recently switched all their laundry machines in the buildings to have to pay on an app (most don't have laundry in their units so there's a laundry area per floor).
None of the old people can figure out how to do laundry now, and the other half don't even have smartphones. I don't know who thinks this shit is a good idea to throw in everyone's faces when not everyone uses technology at the same level, or even can.

@BrentAWilliams2 Legal field. Always good jobs for staff in the legal field. Also far less likely to lose any jobs to AI because law firms are very wary of using AI for much beyond writing clarity assistance.

This is horrifying and barely getting media coverage. Trump set April 30 as a deadline for the Zambian Govt. They must either accept Trump's new health funding agreement to have access to critical AIDS meds—and thus give the USA expanded access to its precious mineral resources like copper, lithium, and cobalt—or let its citizens die due to lack of vital AIDS medications. Zambia is 98% Christian. Christians will die as a result of Trump's extortion. Notice how MAGA is wholly silent? Barbaric.

@RepGraceMeng SNAP and EBT should be eliminated. People need food, fine, we'll given them the staples. Flour, Sugar, rice, beans, cheese, pasta, chicken, beef, vegetables. They have to have incentive to get off the benefits. SNAP makes perpetual victims on government support.

So, let me get this straight.
You observed a problem, and discussed it with your wife.
Your wife expressed that the items causing the problem were important to her.
No compromises or alternate solutions were presented or discussed. No resolution was reached.
So you, unilaterally and behind her back, threw away items that she specifically told you were important to her.
Did it never occur to you to maybe box them up and put them in a closet? Or put them on a higher shelf? Or any of a dozen other potential compromises that would remove the danger without costing her something she obviously valued?

@TraditionSarah You did good girl! I spent $5k on mine which included the dress, venue and an open bar. No favors, no bridesmaids/groomsmen. I did spend $2500 for photos because I planned for this to be my only wedding. So many people spend $50-$100k and are divorced a few years later. 🙄

I got my wedding dress from Macys for $50. I did my own hair. My flowers were $5 fake stems. Our entire wedding cost less than $1500.
No matter the event, frugality is cool kids.

@Dexerto We were above a unit where the dad worked nights. His young son would wail, cry, shriek and carry on for hours between 7-11pm. If I could have played it back to them all day long, I would have. Babies don't cry incessantly for 16 hours unless there's something wrong.

I was soaked from head to undies LITERALLY...embarrassed is an understatement...was not moved but given a few paper towels and YES my entire flight I was soaked like this several times.. thats not spilled water, that's your cabins collected air condensation leaking all over me Being video recorded by several passengers and they also complained on my behalf... ⛸️This woman just got back from her third date and says she won’t be seeing him again.
She had been crystal clear with her date — who is also a doctor — that she has vertigo and does NOT ice skate.
He knew it and agreed to other activities… then still booked two full hours on the ice, pressured her onto it, and spent the whole time showing off laps while she hugged the wall dizzy and miserable.
She finally left mid-date.
Ignoring someone’s explicit boundaries — especially when they’re health-related — tells you everything you need to know.

@kane Worked for a firm that had an Oakland office. Because I was visiting I was allowed to use secure building parking. The other employees were required to pay for parking. Many took Bart as a result and they described experiencing multiple muggings. 🙄

A friend was offered a senior MD role at Kaiser in Oakland. One of the perks they emphasized was security escorts to parking.
She was pregnant at the time and didn’t take the offer because shortly after she visited a toddler was shot in the head nearby.
