It’s fairly unlikely that they’re traveling for travel’s sake, for the purposes of seeing new places or imbibing the culture and history of a foreign land. It’s more likely that their minds are perpetually occupied with documentation, with these books that they’ll make, with the photos they’ll show others. In reality, they’ve traveled nowhere; despite where their bodies may be, their minds perpetually remain in the same place, caught in the net of anticipatory performance.

Kristen Stewart generated $3.3 billion for studios across five Twilight films. Her cut was roughly $70 million, or about 2 cents on every dollar her face put in theater seats. Now she's saying she'll make her next movie with 10 friends in LA and drop it on YouTube for free. Run the math on why this makes sense. Stewart earned $2M for the first Twilight. By Breaking Dawn she was getting $12.5M per film plus 7.5% of gross. Sounds like a fortune until you realize the franchise cleared $3.3 billion and she saw maybe $70M total. The studio system took 98 cents of every dollar she generated, then made her wait 8 years to direct her first feature. The timing of this quote is the part that matters. Markiplier just announced at Cannes that Iron Lung is going YouTube-exclusive on May 31. That film cost $4 million to make. It grossed $51 million. He wrote it, directed it, starred in it, self-distributed it, and is now pressing DVDs from a machine in his house. No studio. No five-year wait. No "bros" to negotiate with. Stewart has $70 million in the bank and an Oscar nomination. She doesn't need someone to give her $1 million to make a movie. She never did. The traditional path just convinced her she did. The economic inversion here is real. In the studio model, talent creates 100% of the value and captures maybe 2-5%. On YouTube, a creator captures 55% of ad revenue and 70% of purchase revenue. The platform takes a cut for distribution. The studio takes a cut for everything: distribution, marketing, executive salaries, overhead, development slates that never ship, and a profit margin on top. Stewart watched Markiplier prove the model. A creator with an audience, a camera, and a story can bypass every gatekeeper in Hollywood and make more per dollar of production than any studio deal would offer. "I'm going to make it f---ing tomorrow" is the most economically rational sentence in this entire interview.
Variety@Variety

Kristen Stewart wants to direct another movie by the end of the year "and put it on f---ing YouTube." "Whatever money we make from that will be what I spend on my next one and there will be a trickle-down effect. I just don’t want to talk to these bros anymore ... I love Hollywood, I love big movies, [but] I don’t think I’d be very good at making them. I want to make weird s---. And I’m fully OK doing that in a kind of insulated, bizarre way. But I don’t want to do the thing where I wait five years for someone to give me $1 million to make something. I’m going to make it f---ing tomorrow." wp.me/pc8uak-1lHhm4

@BitPaine It actually wasn't that bad of a casting. What did people know about the Mongols? They were the King of horses, of whom Genghis Khan was the king. The equivalent in the early 20th century were cowboys, of which John Wayne was the king.

These shitlib examples are completely retarded because in 1956 when this film was made there were a grand total of like 20 bankable Hollywood actors to choose from. The Conqueror had a budget of $6M, which is about $75M today. You’re gonna bet that on what? Some unknown Mongolian you found on the street? John Wayne wasn’t cast as Genghis Khan because Hollywood was racist against Mongolians. There were no fucking Mongolian actors you fucking cactus. But Lupita Nyongo was definitely cast as Helen of Troy because of anti-white racism.

Never forget, the Supreme Court of Colorado decided 4-3 that president Trump should be removed from the Primary Ballot in CO because they claim he was an "Insurrectionist." Even though, he was never even charged with that crime or anything like it. This is the kind of nonsense we have been dealing with for nearly 10 years now.

@DagnyTaggartUSA I can't comment about your order except to say it seems you're shopping from whole foods which is a pretty expensive option. Have you thought about a discount grocer like Aldi's? $500 feeds my family a five for 2 weeks.

One week of groceries for a family. Nothing extravagant. Just the bare bones in a blue state. I stay home. My husband only leaves the house to work. We have cancelled vacations. Taken our children out of extracurricular activities. Cancelled our gym membership’s. We do not go out to restaurants frequently. I’m wearing the same old clothes that I have for years and I need socks and underwear, but that will have to, I guess, never happen. @RFKJr_Official @POTUS @JDVance HELP!

Every young man going to bars needs to know that there is a 1-in-3 chance that the girl they are hitting on is on medication that her doctor explicitly told her she cannot drink on and is doing so anyway. One night when I was in college my friends and I were about to go out and one of them said "I need you guys to watch me tonight because I am trying new medication I'm not supposed to drink on." A few hours later she was black out drunk from a few beers and we had to stop her from getting on some random dude's scooter, she couldn't even tell us what her name was.

🚨BREAKING: TMZ Founder Harvey Levin finally opens up and tells the truth about what Democrats have done to Los Angeles: “I'm not only a born and raised Los Angelino, but I'm second generation. My dad was born and raised in LA, so this is my life. And I have seen this city just fall apart over the last 8-9 years, but especially the last 4 years. The homeless problem is out of control in this city. I've been chased by people, a guy with a hammer, walking out of my gym. He chased me with a hammer. I had a mentally ill woman, a homeless woman, take a boulder and trash my car and I caught her doing it, and I realized there is nothing I can do. What am I going to do, get her arrested? I mean, what is that going to do? Am I going to sue her? So I literally looked at my car, watched her walk away, and said, "I live in Los Angeles…."

@snarktasticgirl @wine_x13 Because there's nothing wrong with pointing out the problems with misogyny, but is far far less common pointing out the problems with misandry. And I find the latter far more common than the former.

A group of fifth graders conducted research on discrimination against women. At the conclusion of their presentation, they asked if anyone had any questions. A parent unrelated to the presenters asked in a certain tone, “While you were researching did you look into gender discrimination against men?” One of the girls replied matter-of-factly, “No, because our topic is discrimination against women.” It was a masterclass in not taking the bait.

I think there’s a strong argument to be made that dictatorships are often better at executing long-term strategic plans, since they can maintain political continuity over decades In democracies, long-term policy is harder to sustain because leadership changes frequently, priorities shift with election cycles and politicians are incentivized to focus on short-term results rather than long term prosperity

It's because TVs aren't subsidized by the government. The reason Doritos are so expensive is because, up until recently, people on welfare could get them with SNAP, so PepsiCo could charge whatever they wanted and had no reason to care whether or not you could afford it because their primary clientele were people who were using your tax dollars to buy them. You pay more because someone else is getting it for "free", and by "free", I mean you're paying for it with your taxes. Since the government doesn't buy TVs for people (with your money), TV manufacturers have to price competitively, hence the low TV prices.
Jum@JesterJum

While the price of virtually everything else skyrockets, the price of TVs remain weirdly low. Its almost like they don't want to price people out of the ability to be distracted, manipulated, and controlled. Anyone else notice that? Or is it just me?

Very rarely will you need to buy your husband a new wallet, but when that day comes, it is somehow a major household decision and you cannot screw it up. Men will carry the same wallet for 20 years with the corners falling apart and still say it’s fine. So this is not the moment for creativity. Slim, durable, leather if he’s a leather guy, metal if he already likes that kind of thing. Do not surprise a man with a weird wallet.
