@domdyer70 Had to make that decision early this month, disease was everywhere, worse than id expected but she was already under anaesthetic from the investigation. Such a hard decision not to have a final goodbye while she was awake but the right one 💔

Took Lassie to the vets today for routine injection. A man came to reception to say he had his dog in the back of the car his legs had gone & he would need a vet nurse & stretcher to carry him in to be put to sleep. He just stood there in tears as he waited for vet nurse. As I left the vets I could see his children & partner in tears waiting with dog in back of the car. I left in tears myself, walking Lassie back to my car. Having a dog is such a privilege but saying goodbye is so devastating

Horse racing should be banned but it never will be there’s too much money in it and too many uncaring people obsessed by greed. This is so sad and the biggest indictment of the sport of kings!!!

◼️AWP is appalled at the death of Gold Dancer on Day 2 of the Grand National ‘Festival’ at Aintree today. He is understood to have fallen & suffered a broken back, yet whipped to win the race and a reported sum of £67,524. He collapsed at the finish and was killed.

A horse has just died at Aintree. Shame on all those who attended “Ladies” Day and contributed to this cruel bloodsport. RIP Gold Dancer💔💔💔💔

I used to love listening to him on 'Something Understood' on Radio 4 late on a Sunday night. He had the most beautiful voice, and a great understanding of spirituality, as well as being a wonderful journalist.
