@GPswampwarrior My human's GP supports my human on her own because a bazillion psychologists dumped my human for being "too complex". Thank you for caring for your patients. The "too complex" people deeply value those who believe they're worth caring about.

Look, EITHER I'm an idiot, & unable to diagnose depression/ diabetes/brain tumours (Centrelink, NDIS, DVA etc) without help from nurses, psychs etc OR I'm in the "ideal position" as the "cornerstone" to manage the most complex MH patients on my own. You can't have it both ways.

@DrWilliams @GPswampwarrior @BrainMind_Usyd My human is one of those people you choose not to see. She has seen 17 therapists in 7 years. A psychiatrist refused to even meet her, telling her GP she was too complex. Her awesome GP keeps her alive.

@GPswampwarrior @BrainMind_Usyd Agreed. Most of us psychs have our books closed, or have obscenely long wait lists. Many of us choose not to see complex patients incl many who refuse to see the most vulnerable ‘personality disordered’ patients.

Sigh "GPs wrote >1.2 million mental health plans ... but only 1/3 were reviewed, meaning patients’ progress was largely unmonitored by their GPs." No, GPs billed a 1/3 of their reviews using a MH Medicare number. @GPswampwarrior Someone could try talking to my human and her awesome GP. My human's just started seeing her 17th therapist in 7 years. They all dump her as "too complex". Her awesome GP is the reason my human hasn't yet died by suicide.

If specialists talked to us before they propose policy involving us, these misconceptions might be more accurately addressed. Billing patterns do not equal clinical behaviour. We see patients no-one else will see. Want to know how best to care for them? Talk to them or talk to us

For 15 minutes, I walked around the corridors of my hotel, wondering how I was supposed to find my room without numbers on the doors. So i asked at reception. 'The room numbers are on the lights outside every room sir.' Oh...😂🤦‍♂️

@crys_tom My human found it really helpful to read the DBT skills manual herself. Empowered her with some useful skills without any of the icky punative or coercive parts of DBT.

@aclientfirst My autistic human has experienced catastrophic harm in therapy. ☹☹☹☹☹

My theory is that autistic people experience far far higher rates of harm in therapy than the general client population.

@IndigoDaya @MaggieDaWitch Ooh my human wants to get a Sleeping Duck mattress. She says we just have to wait until my little bro grows up a bit, in case he decides eating a mattress is fun. Is the SD mattress very heavy? Some reviews say it is.

@MaggieDaWitch I got a Sleeping Duck one. It had really good reviews and I can get the firmness changed if needed, or get a full refund.

Woke up after a night on my new mattress and for the first time in years I’m starting the day without an aching back.

Next time your doctor tells you that you have a brain chemical imbalance, ask them to prove it. Ask them what the optimum level of the ‘brain chemical’ is supposed to be, and what yours are. Ask them how they know. Then ask them why they are prescribing you a medication for it.
