I can finally tell the story!
About a month ago I got a call from a stranger. Told me his name was @MrBeast, and that he’s kind of a big thing on YouTube. He had seen my TED talk, and he told me that he wanted me to help him restore the sight to thousands of blind people all around the world.
Turns out it was all true. He’s got 100 million subscribers, $50 million an annual revenues, and a staff of 60. He’s 24 years old.
With the help of Vision Is Priceless, we called every homeless clinic and free clinic for miles around, and found 40 blind people right here at home. With the help of SEE International, we arranged trips to Honduras, Kenya, Ghana, and the Philippines. He wrote a check to pay for it all, and then some.
I spent a wonderful day working alongside him today, and sometime next month over 50 million of his subscribers will get to feel the love we shared bringing sight to the blind.

@ambassador4joy What a great pleasure it was talking to you, Barry! I'm so pleased to reflect your message, and to share the mission of SEE International.
@MrBeast I’m the eye surgeon who worked with MrBeast to restore the sight to 1000 blind people. I’ll donate all the proceeds to SEEIntl.org and restore the sight to thousands more.
@JNJVision@SEEIntl@CureBlindness Very grateful to Johnson & Johnson Vision for supporting our humanitarian work in the Philippines and around the globe. Looking forward to continuing our collaboration, and to the end of needless blindness.
As we close #CataractAwarenessMonth, we want to spotlight @SEEIntl and @Cureblindness and the recent trip they took to the Philippines to provide cataract surgeries to 600 people in need. Thank you, team, for this incredible work you are doing, and we are excited for what's next.
He has now been featured in @OphthoMag where he discusses the MrBeast collaboration as well as the impact of bringing awareness to preventable blindness. theophthalmologist.com/business-profe…
@Hogshead3Au Nancy, your mom and dad were extraordinary in every way: elegant, thoughtful, loving, kind, and always curious about the world. Wishing you much consolation in lives well and fully lived.
My beautiful 90y/o mom died last night. She had a big stroke on Friday - someone called 911 - 😬 I had to rescue her from the hospital. My siblings flew in and we didn’t leave her side. She wasn’t communicating or drinking after Saturday. We told stories and shared pictures and imitated my mom’s endearing way of telling us to hurry (“toodle right along” while wiggling her arms and butt in opposite directions) planned our next vacation together… spouses and grandkids came in and out… she would have loved the family togetherness, the “aroundness” time.
My work as an advocate scared her. She was proud of me, but she didn’t want anyone mad at me. Whelp - that’s the difference between being born in 1932 and 1962, bt having your parents die young and having a mom there to watch watch your back. Bt being raised to be nice and raised to fulfill a destiny that she calmly assumed would be grand. I know hit the mom jackpot, she isn’t suffering any more, and I can’t stop crying. 💔😭
My collaboration with the YouTube star @MrBeast telling the story of how we might end needless blindness has been viewed 100 million times over the past 2 weeks. Hope you enjoy! youtube.com/watch?v=TJ2ifm…
