@Vulpeex In terms of the spam bots Twitch could do better, 100%. But there are perks for it to be a thirdparty. At Twitch it would most certainly still have to run as its own service just more access. But it wouldn’t be able to adapt as fast as Sery does now. That’s the main difference

@ILostMyMedic I see... Perhaps they could develop or implement... something? Since even twitch can't do anything about those bots that Sery have detected and auto-banned.

@TamaMagatama @TwitchSupport Yeah I agree with the bug. It’s the wording that I think made it sound like Twitch is out here doxing people

@ILostMyMedic @TwitchSupport Not the point. Why would a recent twitch notification show a streamer OLD username when it has been changed long ago? it shouldn’t be shown if the person doesn’t use the name anymore and this is exposing a clear bug in their system.

Hey @TwitchSupport you exposing old usernames now with your new bloom badge notifications? Cause I didn’t recognize this name until i found out it’s a streamer’s OLD USERNAME! What’s the point of changing your username if this happens?!

@justjordansart Yeah, only hope is that the pricing isn’t too bad. Got the wiff of them doing bad around Christmas times, so my hopes is that they have had enough time to refocus things behind the scenes. Been a great service for many years

Twitch is testing a way to send personalized notes to your viewers as Streamer Shouts. This will include things like Subscriber Anniversaries, A Returning Viewer, Watch Streaks, and more. It's being tested with a small group of streamers.

Twitch is launching new enforcement on channels where it detects persistent viewbotting. Those channels will be subject to a CCV cap for a fixed period and will receive a notice of enforcement from Twitch. Read the full update from the CEO here:

Twitch has updated the Bits Acceptable Use policy for the first time since 2018. Key changes: - Bits can now ONLY be used for things on Twitch. (An explicit ban on using Bits for anything off-platform or of monetary value, ie. Movie Night, Merch, etc.) - Much stricter enforcement, including a new "forfeiture clause" which essentially says they can take your Bits (no compensation) for any violation. - Officially kills the "Ads for Bits" product (leftover language; that product has been dead for years).

@ignRedd I believe the wording has changed over the years as I do remember somewhere that it was explicitly mentioned "system messages". It's been a thing people do for a long time. I suspect Twitch to one day do a mass crackdown rather than targeting small incidents now.

@Marksman It’s about everything happening in the background. Here they record your mouse movement, how straightforward a line you move, the speed and how it fluctuate, accuracy, etc. Generally human patterns over a computers pattern. It’s not about the checkbox itself

Twitch has a new recruitment page that fast-tracks creators to get Twitch Partner. Creators with followings on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Twitter, or Snapchat are asked to enter their follower counts and usernames. Twitch will then reach out if you are a good fit.

@LTZONDA @NeoX5 Never payed too much attention to Noice. Theta had a lawsuit on their hands with token operations though

@NeoX5 Yeah, adoption for a ‘pay to stream’ platform would be too much of a barrier to entry. As most creators probably wouldn’t make that investment. And a few platforms did gatekeep, but they never really took off (ThetaTV & Noice)

Working at a live streaming platform really opened my eyes to how expensive live video actually is. Infrastructure is the killer. Encoding, bandwidth, storage, global delivery. Every stream (even to 0 viewers) still costs money, and most viewers aren’t paying users, that costs.
