Last week, IMLU conducted a forum with community policing committees (CPCs) members in Kisumu to showcase successes in strengthening community policing structures. We focused on improving justice outcomes through evidence-based reporting and early preparedness ahead of 2027. 1/2

Today we were present at the Nakuru Law Courts as the court ruled that the six police officers involved in the disappearance of Brian Odhiambo have a case to answer. This ruling marks an important step toward justice. We stand in full solidarity with Brian Odhiambo’s family and remain committed to walking this journey with them until justice is served. #JusticeForBrianOdhiambo

The Court has found that all six KWS officers accused in the enforced disappearance of Brian Odhiambo have a case to answer. The defence hearing will commence on 8th June 2026. IMLU will continue to support Brian's family in this quest for justice. #JusticeForBrianOdhiambo

It risks criminalising legitimate human rights work and shrinking civic space. Deportation must meet strict standards of legality, necessity, proportionality, and due process, not bypass the courts. 2/2

We were pleased to host a delegation from our longtime partner, the @CVTorg. Discussions centered on our continued work to heal the wounds of torture on individuals, families, and communities, strengthen rehabilitation and accountability mechanisms, 1/2

IMLU joins other @CoalitionAgSV members in welcoming the judgement in the case HCCHRPET/E006/2024. The Court’s decision centers survivors of abuse in the tea sector and reinforces the constitutional standards of integrity, dignity, and leadership expected of public officials.

Joint priorities identified were: -Strengthening community policing committees -Prioritizing officers’ mental wellness -Enhancing functional and human rights-based training -Fast-tracking reform commitments Broader multi-sectoral engagement is key to policing transformation. 3/3

The meeting resolved to institutionalize regular engagements with key directorates, including training, community policing, and gender and children, to build trust, enhance accountability, and accelerate implementation of reforms. 2/3
