FOUNDATION STONE LAID FOR “SAKSHAM SCHOOL” AT NAVAL CIVILIAN HOUSING COLONY, POWAI Foundation stone for ‘Saksham’, school for specially abled children was laid on 23 April 26 at Naval Civilian Housing Colony (NCHC) Powai, by Mrs. Jyoti Patney, w/o Rear Admiral Ajay Patney, Admiral Superintendent, Naval Dockyard Mumbai. The school is being constructed under the ageis of HQWNC CSR TRUST in partnership with M/s HUDCO and aims at providing quality education to specially abled children at the Naval Civilian Housing Colony, Powai. The school will have 12 classrooms, therapy rooms, synthetic play area, garden, activity area and various other facilities for holistic development of children.

#IndianNavy's Annual Refit Conference & Annual Infrastructure Conference for the year 2026 were held in #NavalDockyard, Mumbai under the aegis of #HQWNC on 11 and 12 Mar 26. Attended by delegates from #NHQ and all Command Headquarters, and repair, maintenance and materiel organisations across the #IndianNavy, the conference reviewed refit plans, op availability of ships & submarines, & infrastructure augmentation for growing needs of the #IndianNavy. _VAdm Krishna Swaminathan #FOCINC #WNC delivered the keynote address and enunciated the key imperatives for boosting combatworthiness of IN platforms for sustained operations. The conference was chaired by VAdm B Sivakumar, #COM. As part of 290th Anniversary Celebrations of ND (Mb), Painting Competition was held on Saturday, 10 January 2026 at Surabhi Hall, NCHC, Powai. There was overwhelming participation with over 450 children across age groups displaying their artistic talents.

A batch of 39 B'Tech students NCC cadets from Thakur College of Engineering and Technology (TCET) successfully completed a specially curated four week Internship Programme at Naval Dockyard, Mumbai. The internship program was in accordance with a MoU between Indian Navy and TCET, aimed at shaping the young talented mind towards understanding various technologies used in Indian Navy and Shipbuilding in general. The Western Naval Command organised a musical evening at Kohli Stadium on 27 December, featuring captivating performances by Salim–Sulaiman, along with in-house dance and stand-up comedy acts. Renowned Bollywood actress, television host & model Ms Kubbra Sait was EMCEE for the event. Around 10000 personnel of Mumbai Station, including officers, sailors, DSC personnel and their families attended the programme. The event was a befitting year-end tribute to the dedication of Naval personnel. Eight QC teams represented Naval Dockyard, Mumbai in National Convention on Quality Concept -2025 conducted at GL Balaji Institute of Management, Greater Noida. Out of more than 1400 + QC teams that participated in the Convention, from all over India, Five teams of Naval Dockyard,Mumbai secured the Highest award " PAR Excellence (GOLD) "And 03 team awarded Excellence( Silver Medal) The professional case studies presented by the QC teams were highly appreciated by the judges.

The Outreach Programme - 'Surf to Snow 2025' Odyssey sailed home to Naval Dockyard Mumbai, where FOC-in-C Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan, AVSM, VSM presided over a fitting finale. The 21-day, 5318-km voyage honoured ND(Mbi)’s 290-year legacy. With 149 personnel charting a course over 4 legs through Udaipur, Shimla, Rampur Bushahr, Karchom, Chandigarh, Agra, Gwalior, Bhopal, Mhow and Nashik, the crew engaged 2,500+ students - igniting curiosity about life in uniform and the call of service. This voyage showcased teamwork, grit and an unyielding spirit—reaffirming the Navy’s resolve toward nation-building and youth empowerment. The expedition team comprising of 43 members alongwith 14 all terrain vehicles from Naval Dockyard Mumbai led by Commodore Ankit Sood was flagged off by Lt Gen Sukriti Singh Dahiya, SM, VSM, #COS, #HQARTRAC from Shimla on 20 November 2025 for Rampur, their next destination. The expedition set off from Mumbai on 13 November 25 to travel towards the snow-clad heights of Kalpa in Himachal Pradesh. The 5000Km expedition not only celebrates 290 years of the Naval Dockyard but also fosters stronger bonds between civilians and the armed forces through interactive engagements. As the team embarks on this arduous journey, they'll soon find themselves traversing the majestic Himalayas, embodying the spirit of adventure, endurance, and unity. The Indian Navy Outreach Programme - Surf to Snow signed off with style and spirit from Gwalior. Shri Sojan Singh Rawat (IAS), Addl Collector (Development) & Secretary, District Archaeological, Tourism & Cultural Council, Gwalior, flagged off the convoy on 28 Nov 25, appreciating the Indian Navy for bringing this dynamic outreach to the city. At the dawn on 26 Nov 25, Agra welcomed Leg 3 of the*Surf to Snow* Naval Outreach Car rally Programme with the 33 member team from Naval Dockyard Mumbai arriving in a fleet of Mahindra vehicles. An elaborate engaging session with NCC Cadets & Sharda University students set the tone for the day as the largest outreach event conducted by the Indian Navy at Agra.

Rear Admiral Ajay Patney took over as Admiral Superintendent of Naval Dockyard Mumbai on 26 Nov 25 from Rear Admiral Ankur Sharma, NM. RAdm Ajay Patney was commissioned into Indian Navy on 30 Nov 91. He is an alumnus of The Naval College of Engineering, Defence Service Staff College, Naval War College and National Defence College. He is also a post graduate of IIT Delhi. The Flag Officer in his career spanning 34 years has held several Operational, Yard and Staff appointments. Some of his key appointments include Commanding Officer INS Valsura, ADG WESEE, AGM/DGM at ND(Mbi), Capt(Personnel) and Capt(Electrical Engg) at NHQ. The Flag Officer has also been the Asst Defence Advisor at the High Commission of India, Dhaka. On promotion to Flag Rank he has tenanted the billets of ADGQ(Naval) and ASY(Kar) prior taking over the present appointment.

ASD(Mbi) dedicated the Renovated Ferry Lounge to all “Seafarers” using the facility. The works included complete renewal of the roof & correction to its slope, overhaul of AC Plants, cleaning of ventilation trunkings, repairs and renewal of floorings, provisioning of ergonomic sofas with inbuilt power source for charging phones and enhancement of hygiene of the area. This is in keeping with the ethos of the Yard to make available all services.. to all personnel & families.. with the highest possible standards.. at all times.
