When I was making the Polypaths series, I always felt the real heart of the project wasn't the final image, but the system behind it. The output is just what happens. The real magic is in the underlying logic. There are a bunch of ways to build a generative system, but with Polypaths, every single parameter is tightly linked. They all influence each other, and sometimes, when everything lines up just right, something almost spiritual just appears. The pieces on @verse_works were curated by collectors. But for the @GalerieMet version, I wanted to take the lead as the artist. My goal was to push the system further and see what else it could do. I made a few subtle tweaks, a bit of magic, you could say, and adjusted how the parameters related to each other. The result was a set of works that felt different from the previous series. This whole process really proved to me that in generative art, the structure and architecture are way more important than the final output. This is why the artist's version exists. It's not a replacement; it’s a way to show more of the system's inner life. It reveals how a complex, responsive structure can create an entire ecosystem of variations. It reminds me why I'm so passionate about generative art. It’s not just a tool for making pretty pictures, but a way of thinking, building, and seeing the world.

On recency bias... You should check out @IOivm's Ink Fields x.com/IOivm/status/2… (full disclosure I'm a big fan and acquired a couple). I'm not sharing as a buy call though. It's what I think is a strong example of something that could be considered a bridge work. A collection that carries the human just as much as the code. Something that captures spirit and intent. Def worth a close look.

Had the privilege to collect inkField #12 shown here by @IOivm Incredible art, which shows the actual time, detail, and thought behind each stroke, the human artist element. No ai, no automation. Read this thread and view this collection. You’ll be blown away as I am! 🔥

1/ Aluan Wang built inkField "at the worst possible moment for it, just as image generators began flooding the world with finished surfaces." That timing was the point. --- inkField #12

Happy to add two pieces from inkField by @IOivm Aluan Wang to the collection. Picked up #11 and #50 through @iconic__culture I’ve been spending time exploring the collection, and the concept of preserving the entire creative process not just the final artwork really stood out to me. Watching each piece recreate itself stroke by stroke gives it a completely different feeling. Looking forward to seeing where this collection goes. 🎨

@masoudrahhal @iconic__culture 🙏🙏 the stroke-by-stroke replay was the whole point. i wanted the piece to keep the shape of the hour it was made in, not just the shape of the image. welcome. #11 and #50 have very different weather in them.

@REAS 200% agree. tuning the system is the hardest part, by far.

Writing code as an artist requires technical fluency, but that's only the beginning. The more significant challenge is developing computational intuition: a sensibility for the aesthetic consequences of algorithms and for the ways systems respond to changes.

@IOivm #1 was a no brainer. #34 was a harder second pick. Very curious to see if our "why" overlaps. Don't tell me now! I'm putting my reasons down as a collectors statement that I'll share in the coming days. I'll make sure to tag you. I'd love to see if our thoughts chime 🙌🏾

Really love the two @Sonoflasg picked. Different proportions, different stroke paths, but they echo each other in a way I didn't fully see until now. Back when I was testing the system at the museum, I often used #1 as the reference. It carries the heaviest structural weight in the series.

The stills from inkField #19 and #40 by Aluan Wang seem to be in conversation with one another. I wonder which collector will recognize that and collect them as a diptych. They would look stunning framed and hung side by side.

In classical painting traditions, a triptych was never just three works hung together. Each panel carried its own weight, but placed side by side, they built a conversation. The eye moved between them and found rhythms, contrasts, and echoes that a single piece could never hold alone. That's how a series comes alive. Seeing three inkFields chosen and placed together works the same way. The choice itself becomes a reading of the work. A curator's decision that gives the pieces something they couldn't have on their own. Grateful to @sqda for seeing them this way.

I find this collection by @IOivm stunning. Thanks @RDToTheMoon for being it to my attention. Original and very well executed. My favourite three will be added as a triptych to my Work-In-Progress Collection... and yes there are a several still available. Share art you love. ❤️ This is how we build. 🫡

@baiweiart 偷偷告訴你一個神奇的故事,畫面中那一個觀音像,竟然是宋朝的木頭觀音。 該藝術家,費勁千辛萬苦才把它帶出中國。

A few years back I visited an artist’s studio. He’s an artist and a collector both. Walking into his place, there was work everywhere. Walls, shelves, tables. Pieces he’d collected from other people over the years. He said something simple to me: beautiful things just need to sit there. You don’t need to do anything. A vibe forms on its own. My way of working slowly moved in that direction. Making inkField, I’ve tried to stay loose. A tight body can’t draw. A few years back I’d sit in front of a screen for hours. Shoulders tense, barely blinking. Now it’s different. Drawing feels closer to breathing.
