Iridia
@IRIDIAinc
Iridia stores digital information in molecules to authenticate physical goods, making products and supply chains as tamper-proof as digital blockchain.

[Obligatory 'going to moon' joke here] But more seriously: There is actually something pretty interesting here. Short post about DePIN incentive models and innovation 👇 Proof of work networks are permissionless and agnostic buyers of resources. Bitcoin buys SHA2-256 hashes, and Arweave buys provable data storage of data. One of the effects of permissionlessness is that there is fierce competition to drive down the prices of the purchased resources. In Bitcoin, anyone with access to cheap electricity can join the network and out-compete those with more expensive energy prices. In Arweave, the effect is similar: Anyone with cheaper access to storage that meets the network's requirements can mine at a lower price -- and thus, higher profitability -- than their competition. If @IRIDIAinc is able to get their DNA data storage tech right at scale, their products will massively out-compete the existing HDD-based miners, and will become the dominant hardware in the network. Iridia's technology is extremely interesting and potentially groundbreaking. Even before they are ready to ship to end-users, they could apply it in the network at 'lab-scale', providing on-site monitoring as necessary. Arweave is agnostic: You get paid for proving that you have stored the data. As long as it meets some basic requirements, the network doesn't care what the data is stored on -- experimental tech or otherwise. In the Bitcoin space, this mechanism led to extraordinary growth in the ASIC sector. We have always hoped Arweave might be helpful in spurring the same innovation in storage hardware. Exciting to see the first wave of this start to take shape.
