The IRS Association Congratulates the 2008 Batch IRS Officers for promotion to the grade of Commissioner of Income Tax (CIT). On 10th February 2026, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet had approved the empanelment of 2008 Batch IRS officers for promotion to the grade of Commissioner of Income Tax (CIT) in the Indian Revenue Service (Income Tax), in Level 14 of the Pay Matrix, for the panel year 2026. One Officer of 2005 Batch and four Officers of 2007 Batch were also empanelled by ACC.

On 2nd February 2026, a delegation from the All India Executive Body of the IRS Association, led by President Ms. Banita Naorem, IRS, paid a courtesy visit to Hon’ble Members of the CBDT, Shri Pankaj Kumar Mishra, IRS (Member, Administration) and Shri L. Rajasekhar Reddy, IRS (Member, Systems & Faceless Scheme). The delegation comprised General Secretary Ms. Deepsikha Sharma, IRS; Joint General Secretary Shri Ankur Jain, IRS; and Members Shri Girindra Pratap Singh, IRS, and Ms. Samatha Mullamudi, IRS. Discussions with Shri Pankaj Kumar Mishra focused on strengthening the core competence and role of the Indian Revenue Service (Income Tax) in realising Viksit Bharat@2047, from probationer training to field formations, and on the need for greater empathy towards physically challenged officers and staff in this highly technical service. With Shri L. Rajasekhar Reddy, the delegation emphasised the importance of appropriate tools for scrutiny selection to protect rule-abiding taxpayers. The Association assured that it would pursue these matters, along with the legitimate aspirations of the cadre, in a balanced and constructive manner.

The IRS Association proudly extends its heartiest congratulations to Lt Col Pradeep Shoury Arya, IRS, SHAURYA CHAKRA (SC), VISHISHT SEVA MEDAL (VSM), from the 2004 Batch, Commissioner of Income-Tax, on being Awarded the SENA MEDAL (Gallantry), on the eve of the 77th Republic Day, 2026 for Narco-Terror Operations. A Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army, he becomes the first Civil Servant and Indian Revenue Service Officer to receive this distinguished honour. His courage, devotion to duty, and exemplary service in both civil administration and the Armed Forces bring immense pride to the Service and to the Nation. The Newly Elected Office Bearers of the IRS Association (All India Body) - Smt. Banita Devi Naorem, IRS, President, Smt. Deepshikha Sharma, IRS, General Secretary, Shri. Ankur Jain, IRS, Joint General Secretary paid a courtesy visit to Shri. Ravi Agrawal, IRS, Chairman, CBDT, Shri. Sanjay Bahadur, IRS, Member (IT), CBDT and Smt. Mona Singh, Member (A&J), CBDT and presented a copy of Kautilya’s ‘The Arthashastra’ on the occasion.

Pursuant to Clause 8(a)(II)(ii) of the Articles of Association, the President, Indian Revenue Service Association, has nominated Ms. Samatha Mullamudi, IRS (2009), Mr. Satya Prakash Mishra, IRS (2023) and Mr. Varun Yadav, IRS (NADT Probationer) as member to the Central Executive Committee. The nominations, effective from 23.12.2025, are in strict conformity with the Articles of Association and aim to strengthen participation and deliberations within the Association.

QR Code–based Mobile App “AbhiLekhAbhi”, a Digital File Inventory initiative of the Pr.CCIT, Andhra Pradesh & Telangana Region, has been recognised as a Best Practice in the reply filed by the Government in Parliament: In the Rajya Sabha on 8th December 2025, Hon’ble Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting and Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Dr. L. Murugan, while replying to Unstarred Question No. 932 on Best Practices under Special Campaign 5.0 for promoting Digital and Sustainable Governance, highlighted this initiative as a Best Practice adopted across Ministries and Departments of the Government of India, noting its role in efficient file inventory management and space optimization. The initiative has enabled efficient file inventory management, real-time tracking of records, and space optimisation, reflecting CBDT’s commitment to digital transformation. At present 30,000 records in the Office of Pr.CCIT AP & Telangana have been inventorised. Owing to its effectiveness, other offices in the Pr.CCIT, AP & TG Region are adopting and customizing the model, making it a sustainable solution for record management. The IRS Association places on record its deep appreciation for the innovative and forward-looking approach to record management spearheaded by the Principal CCIT, AP & Telangana. Shri Atul Kumar Pandey, IRS, worked with the Toto tribe of Totopara, Alipurduar (West Bengal) when he was posted in the region. He is now posted at Prayagraj, yet he continues to work for the community. Over the years, he has worked closely with the Toto people to promote education, computer literacy, youth training, and cultural preservation. His initiatives, including the establishment of classrooms and training centres, have enabled Toto youth to access new opportunities while safeguarding their unique cultural identity. This inspiring story demonstrates how a civil servant, driven by a passion for service to humanity, can transcend geography and postings, thereby embodying the true spirit of public service. The IRS Association (All India Body) places on record its sincere appreciation for Shri Atul Pandey, IRS, Joint Commissioner, Prayagraj, for his dedication and commitment, and would be pleased to be a partner in his continuing journey of service to the Nation. Senior and Retired IRS Officers gathered on 20.12.2025 at Amaravati Community Centre, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, and felicitated Shri P.R. Rao, IRS, and Shri D. Laxminarayana, IRS. Shri P.R. Rao (1955 batch), former CIT Hyderabad and DG, NADT Nagpur, trained seven batches in Accounts and Income-tax Law and is widely admired for his knowledge and mentorship. Now 95, he is settled in Hyderabad . Shri D. Laxminarayana (1963 batch), an Investigation expert renowned for searches nationwide, served as CIT Hyderabad and retired as CCIT Bangalore. Now 87, he is settled in Puttaparthi Both are eminent officers who set high standards of service. Senior officers fondly recalled their exemplary service and lasting contribution to the service and nation.

Upon assuming charge on 18th December 2025, the new Executive Body reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding the common interests of IRS officers, strengthening institutional dialogue, and serving with unity, integrity, and shared responsibility.
