The appointment, effective on a coterminous basis, formalises a role Dr Shah has been handling since August 2020. His tenure is set to continue till May 31, 2029. Having joined the PMO in 2019 as Deputy Secretary, Dr Shah has been closely involved in high-level policy coordination and governance. His recent empanelment as Joint Secretary (February 2026) has now translated into this formal elevation. With prior experience across key administrative assignments in Gujarat, and an early stint as a junior engineer with the Gujarat Pollution Control Board, Dr Shah’s elevation reflects continuity and deep institutional familiarity within the PMO. @PMOIndia

Mangesh Joshi (IAS: SCS: 2015) has been appointed as Director of Tourism, Mumbai. He was earlier serving as Deputy Director General at YASHADA, Pune. In a corresponding move, Dr B.N. Patil (IAS: Non-SCS: 2014) has been shifted from the Tourism Department to the Higher and Technical Education Department as Project Director, Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA), Mumbai. At the local governance level, Kuladeep Jangam (IAS: RR: 2020) takes over as Additional Municipal Commissioner, Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation. He was previously CEO, Zilla Parishad, Solapur. Kushal Jain (IAS: RR: 2022) will now serve as CEO, Zilla Parishad, Solapur. The reported eviction of two IRS officers from the Odisha Governor’s House in Bhubaneswar during what was meant to be a courtesy visit to the Governor has sparked serious concern. And rightly so. Such an incident, involving constitutional offices and senior civil servants, raises fundamental questions about protocol, institutional conduct, and mutual respect within the system. Courtesy calls are a long-standing administrative convention. Any deviation of this nature not only undermines that convention but also risks denting the dignity of public institutions.
