By putting Boro in the final this leaves the EFL open to litigation from every other club in the league that Southampton did this to. This is a wild decision.
Correct to expel Soton but Hull should be default winners.

I have taken my autistic son up and down the country this season to every home and away game including the play off games. Thousands of pounds spent on travel, hotels, tickets and food. I now have to tell him that his team have cheated and been kicked out. Ashamed #saintsfc

@samtate @woodwardio79 @SouthamptonFC @EFL I think it’s kind of a fair assumption that if your first breach is 21 days after the manager comes in, he then magically goes on a huge run the question isn’t about Middlesbrough it’s everything else, if you’ve cheated since December you would never have been in the play offs

@forestmad80 Spying for 3 separate games… an example needed to be made of them. Completely unacceptable and the book has rightly been thrown at them, do feel very sorry for the fans though, the club have let them down.

For Context, breaches go back as far as December that are known, weirdly the point they start going on a ridiculous run which got them too the play offs, they cheated in a promotion decider vs Ipswich, they cheated against a team who ended up relegated in Oxford #Saintsfc #Pompey

An Independent Disciplinary Commission has today expelled Southampton from the Sky Bet Championship Play-Offs after the Club admitted to multiple breaches of EFL Regulations related to the unauthorised filming of other Clubs’ training. In addition, the Club has received a four-point deduction that will be applied to the 2026/27 Championship table. The effect of today’s order is that Middlesbrough are reinstated into the 2026 Play-Offs and will proceed to the Play-Off Final against Hull City.
