Life happens. There are days when I am balancing clients, personal obligations, my business, or ADHD fatigue. Sometimes the absolute best thing you can do for your characters is to take the day off and be ready for them tomorrow.

I've edited hundreds of novels, including bestsellers, and here's something that might surprise you... Some of the most talented writers I've ever met are still unpublished. Because they let imposter syndrome paralyze them. Because they gave up after 30 rejections. Because they got constructive feedback and heard "this isn't good enough." And it's so heartbreaking to see. I want to shake these writers and tell them to just keep going — that their "yes" could literally be one query away. Whenever doubt creeps in, remember that the difference between an aspiring author and a published one often isn't raw talent. It's simply persistence.

@jthorpe11 I think it’s pretty understandable to have those worries. The worry is just trying to protect you from something.

I'm publishing my debut sci-fi novel in exactly a week and here all the things I'm worried about: *that it will be riddled with typos and grammar errors even though it's been professionally copy edited, proofread and read by me until my eyes nearly fell out (plus I am a former editor of words myself)

My plot has become so feral that I asked ChatGPT what genre my half-finished manuscript even is. Turns out, it’s a sci-fi conspiracy thriller. Well, that clears that up. 🙂

It hit me today just how deeply unhappy I am. Yet every day I keep moving forward, counting my blessings and focusing on what I'm grateful for, even while trying to ignore the darkness that surrounds me. I am choosing to keep going despite everything.

Writing feels like a fever dream because somehow in the last hour I have written 1,106 words. Do they make sense? Am I hallucinating? Who knows. I'll find out tomorrow after I've gotten some serious sleep. Turns out I can't function so well if I don't get my 7 hours in 🫩

Just seen a post on X advising authors to not rely on Social Media to increase their book sales.. but rather go out and meet people to promote their books by building relationships with your fanbase. What a complete load of nonsense !! Show me any business that doesn’t rely of Social Media posts to drive their sales and I will stand corrected. I will wait…… #amstandish #writers #authors
