At least there will be some small hills, and that is life.” If you have 83 seconds to spare today, spend it watching this video of the wonderful and expressive Nantume Miria, just 19 years old and hopefully a rising star of African women’s cycling, from Uganda ❤️🇺🇬 She is kindly giving @RossBurrage - the co-founder of the truly incredible Masaka Cycling Club charity who supports her - a tour of her family home, of which she is clearly so proud ❤️ Miria is the sole income earner for her whole family. She supports her family with the income she receives through a Masaka Cycling Club scholarship. It pays her brother’s school fees and her mother’s living costs, as she is largely immobile. The passion at Masaka Cycling Club is to change not only Miria’s life but that of her whole family. She is also a part of the brilliant @Cyclists_All mentoring programme for 2026, and we hope she will attract a team for the 2027 season, having narrowly just missed a Continental team this year. Masaka Cycling Club is an entirely donor-funded charity, and runs an initiative called #Project500 - aiming to have 500 donors worldwide helping them do what they do. They are on around 290 wonderful benefactors right now, let’s get them to 500 and help riders like Miria follow their passion! Congrats 20yo Yafiet Mulugeta of #Eritrea for being the first African rider to get a podium at @sharjahtour 2026 today, with a strong third place! He jumps 44 spots to #25 in the overall GC.
