@paulwiggins @verge The author’s summation about, ‘could we have these great advances without the bad behaviour’ is what I reflect on. I’d like to think we could have both but I’m not sure. I just know I separate the two.

@archer_rs An elderly friend mentioned once that we have lost the joy of motoring and now just drive.

A lovely, really enjoyable drive last evening from home to my hotel here in Menetou-Salon. I chose a route deliberately avoiding the motorways and stuck to country roads. The Alpine reveled in the challenge and was a delight through fast flowing corners and sprint acceleration.

This is nuts. Some lads out cycling near Balmoral. And who should they bump in to, walking the wet muddy road? The King! youtu.be/QABiQFWwXHg?si… (from 4:25)

@Documentally Karma. Maybe he’s being forced to live longer as punishment for all he’s done. Maybe it is actually hell being alive and better once we die.

A banal observation with profound consequences: almost every moment of your life will be ordinary. That's why learning to take pleasure in the ordinary can be so life-changing. This can be done with: • gratitude • mindfulness • savoring Or better yet, a combination of all 3

@SpencrGreenberg @willmacaskill So agree. Same for relationships. It not to revel in the sublime (as in the flush of a new romance) but to revel in the mundane. And when those special moments come they are so much the better.

@stilgherrian I’ll have to get to this later. It would be so much better to watch in real time which I did most of Pearl Harbor for. WWll in real time is something spectacular.

Hah. My meeting has been pushed back to 1000. I'll be two hours into the show and reluctant to leave it.

Tue plan: 0800 AEST watch the start of @TimeGhostTV D-Day 24 Hours; 0900 client meeting, probably, so I probably won’t try to watch the 24-hour stream live; remainder TBA. I’m thinking I’ll do the TimeGhost thing on 2 x 12 hours, or maybe 3 x 8 hours.

@heyBarsee No. It’s bigger than that. More like Gutenberg’s printing press or the invention of language.
