It was a brilliant day at the ACCT UK 10th Annual Excellence Awards 2024 yesterday. Well done to all the cadets and adults who received awards from Dame Joanna Lumley.

Strategic Defence Review has committed to a 30% increase in cadet numbers. We should not underestimate the benefits of the Cadet Force. It’s fantastic for social mobility providing opportunity and a sense of belonging. #SDR25

OK Alfie Please post this: Christmas isn’t a great time for everyone. For a lot of us it will be an opportunity for a break from work and a time to catch up with Mates and Family that we haven’t seen for a while. This may bring challenges for some people though, who have conflict with loved ones, financial worries or ongoing mental health needs. For those who have lost loved ones it can be especially hard. That’s why it’s important that at this time of year particularly when the expectation forced upon us is to be ‘happy and joyful’ that you look after yourself. Think about the effect drink has on you and if it makes you feel bad try and limit your intake. And if you have a hangover and feel rotten emotionally remember that it is the drink making you feel worse and it will pass. If you have conflict with relationships try hard to stay as calm as possible and extract yourself from situations in which you may be compromised. And try and avoid drama of any kind. If you are feeling lonely be careful with social media.Whilst SM is great in order to help you feel connected to others it can also have the effect of exacerbating the isolation and loneliness you feel - especially if you have recently broken up with someone. So try and stay away from it as much as possible. If you know people who are struggling keep an eye on them.Send them an occasional text and check they are OK. If you are struggling the following offer 24/7,free and confidential listening services. Most of the time all people really need when they feel stressed or pissed off is a chat,a listening ear.So use these services. No one will ever know you have spoken to them. Text Shout - 85258 Call Samaritans - 116123 There is also the Combat Stress helpline at which people will be on the end of a phone to chat to you if things are getting too much: Call - 0800 324 4444 No matter where you are, what you are doing,or how you are feeling,be safe …

@Lincs_ACF are back home having ‘ripped’ Warcop. We had an amazing time, our cadets were so well behaved and everyone performed to the highest standards. Nr. 1,000 ACS passes, 72 Star passes and many promotions and prizes awarded. We had the best time. Our CFAVs smashed it, 👍🙏

Spent my last Annual Camp visit this summer at Longmoor seeing Nottinghamshire ACF. A good day with visitors from many parts of the community. Also thanks to the Commandant and Colonel Cadets East Midlands for giving me some time at the end of the day.
