Recently, I was able to board a flight from a certain country to London and upon getting to the check in counter, I was told that there was a problem. They couldn’t board me because according to them, my UK visa (even though it was months from expiry) was no longer valid.

Remember when I found someones’s international passport at the Airport in Cairo last month, it was a Nigerian passport belonging to a woman. I picked it up and handed it over to the immigration officer, we had a conversation and I advised they announce it inside the airport. I was in a hurry because the person that came to pick me up had been waiting for about 4 hours, so I didn’t even look at the name on the passport. Not even up to 20 minutes, I met a group of women and young girls who were Nigerians and possibly came in for pilgrimage and I asked if anyone was looking for a passport, they said they came in with a lot of people and could know the owner, took them straight to the immigration officer I gave the passport and the man who I just interacted with said he doesn’t understand English and speaks only Arabic. Me: So where is the passport sir, they want to see it. Him: Speaks a lot of Arabic and said “I don’t know what you talk about.” He looked at me dead in the eye and feigned ignorance.

I just remembered during my father's burial, as the firstborn and Ada of the house, I had to stay in front of the ambulance that conveyed his body from the mortuary to his final resting place. When we got to the mortuary, I was told I was the one to go in, identify his corpse and speak to him, saying I was his daughter and had come to take him home. Just imagine that scenario. At first I was scared, but when I entered to identify him, I saw my dad in his glory—the kindest person I have ever met in my life. I became weak to my bones and wondered, what's the essence of living? I sha did everything, told him, "Your Ada is here to take you home, Daddy," made sure his suit was properly fitted, and he was carried to the ambulance for takeoff. I felt this peace and presence in the vehicle, like he was watching and smiling, but I was soaked with tears. I kept calling his name as we drove home. Miss you, Dad.

The appointment of @TunjiDisu1 is good news. His Twitter/X account might probably now have a management, but he will still be actively involved and responsive. Beyond the “illegality” of his appointment i.e. sacking/retirement of so May DIGs and the nepotism therein, AIG Tunji Disu (IGP) is a seasoned professional and dutiful officer that has always served the people with his office, he will be a breathe of fresh air compared to Egbetokun the business man. Just a month in Zone 2, he already setup a reporting mechanism to tackle extortion and abuse of power by the officers at Alagbon. He transformed RRS in Lagos and you could hardly catch any RRS officer begging or extorting people, 95% of them knew it was too much a risk because reporting the plate of your truck/vehicle or bike was all that is needed to get you in hot mess, I don’t need any name or service number. His predecessor too worked with excellence. I still have his contact and that of controller Afolabi as we speak, they were officers that knew and still know that being a police officer means being under the people as a servant and they served in their imperfection. I won’t be surprised if the like of @BenHundeyin is relegated to the background like @YomiShogunle, and it will be a great one to have someone like @aleeygiwa being the voice of the @PoliceNG again.
