genuinely, it is disgusting that your standard array of grayzone assadists and RT assets floated to the top of coverage for this conflict online. It's not only disgraceful to champion open antisemites like hinkle, it also devalues all others supporting Palestinian people
Zeynab Day@ZeynabDay

Katie Halper lost her job reporting on Palestine last year. Abby Martin covered the March of Return in 2017. All the amazing journalists IN Palestine, or Palestinian journalists. This grifter, who's making $$$ of genocide, and who kissed Bibi's ass last year gets an award.

@AncomFrogg it was definitely a clever play, given that the accusation of new order by chuds is that it was cookie cutter and simplistic and it was too much gunnin down nazis. then colossus came out and they're stuck trying to dance around why an enumerated argument against fascism is bad

@AncomFrogg yeah they very much had a single perspective that was the focus in that first one. That is, a very simplistic nazi massacre. the sequel really digs into the broader ideaology of fascism with the disability stuff, confronting BJs whiteness etc. new order was very broey

@AncomFrogg yeah, it's bad from a representation and sensetivity standpoint. which often happens from these sort of updated fairytale type things. I do also think the first game was a lot more "safe." Where it's trying to trick the audience into thinking it's a lot dumber than it ends up

@AncomFrogg yeah it's not good for sure, poorly handled. That said, his character is meant as an analog for the Golem. that is, still fully alive and aware, waiting to do the shit, and sort of frozen until activated. The paralysis becomes more of a disability thing in the second.

@AncomFrogg I think in this case, she sees him as more than a disabled guy. She knows to some extent that he's an american soldier, and that he's been wounded. I feel like she sees him as sort of. a hope, i guess? Also, as with many anti nazi genre fiction, it's a Golem allegory

@EmissaryOfNight moreover, I think there's some degree to which white workers do have above average solidarity with Palestinians. Not a lot, not universally, but it's not possible for the Iraq war to be culturally accepted as an overreaction among the working class and to not draw comparisons now

@BlackRedGuard1 @AllNaz1s whenever I'm bitching at movement folks and union activists about tactics, my refrain is that we always lose when we don't have anti racist consciousness. black and white collaboration is the foundation of every historically successful strike and industrial action. cuts both ways

laughing at white people because they’re broke is ghoul behavior and shows a bougie class consciousness. there are working class and unemployed white people, we should struggle with them and bring them into the movement to stop new Klan and Nazis from being made. This doesn’t mean we should tolerate their racism, but mocking them doesn’t make them anti-racists, if anything it makes them even more bitter and resentful and easy prey for the right.

@EcoTechBro @AllNaz1s cos like, as a purely stylistic choice in Invincible, hey, always glad to see more black folks drawn in stuff. But given that Viltrum is textually a racial supremacist empire, I do think the line of near identical white men in the comic was thematic rather than purelyan oversight

Nothing will fill you with more resentment as a black person than watching the casual way in which white people dehumanize you when they think you're not watching. The internet has been a big lab in this, and fandoms are the beakers.
Night 𐚁@FakeNightskin

Y’all don’t know how radicalizing it is to have a bunch of white people’s biggest concern be the fact that there’s black people in their cartoons. Y’all don’t got real problems but a lot of hate in your hearts.

@EcoTechBro @AllNaz1s always silly for people to be mad about like. just black cartoon characters. Though, in this specific case, I do wonder what the intention is of making the fascist eugenics empire more diverse? Not in a concern troll type way, but like. Whats the intent here?

@ProfofEvil @milkydraws888 yeah it is a bit weird that they managed to translate him into the GWOT. Like, with the cold war, at least there's an enemy with an interest and ability to steal technology and exploit it. If a fictional terrorist org gets the scoop on his tech, what could they even do?

@Bonesdrawstuff @MusketAnna absolutely. Max always seemed like a king arthur type figure. the story is retold to comfort or inspire the people. His bones likely grace some quiet track of desert, but the man himself protects the powerless at the junction of every conflict.

My personal canon is that Max in the first film is the "true" Max, while every version since is a variation on a mythic figure that has been passed on through the ages. This is why similar characters keep cropping up e.g. Gyro Captain/Jedediah

I like how George Miller never gave a fuck about continuity or timelines. If "the fall" is the war that seems to have happened between MAD MAX and ROAD WARRIOR, Max must be like 80 in FURY ROAD, right? But these are mythical tales, not for the literally-minded to dissect.

@IdjitM @PresidentSunday @AllNaz1s Sure, I get the whole morbid humor thing, but it just feels empty to chuckle about dead whoever, when they basically aced life. No revolutionary firing squad for them; they just got to kick the bucket peacefully in their golden years. Unlike Lord Jesus Christ or Abe Lincoln. L
