I was in Abuja about two months ago and noticed something.
Two suya spots were side by side.
One always had a long queue. The other had just a few people.
I assumed it was the taste.
So I bought from both.
Honestly, they tasted almost the same.
Then I noticed something else.
The quieter spot wasn't accepting transfers.
I asked the aboki why.
He had an Android phone, so using OPay or PalmPay wouldn't have been difficult.
He smiled and said, "I don't want it. I like seeing my cash."
I told him to just try transfers for one week. If he didn't like it, he could stop.
I was back in Abuja last week and visited the same spot.
He gave me free suya and a Coke.
Then he said, "It has made business much easier."
Sometimes, growth doesn't come from changing your product.
It comes from removing small frictions that make it harder for customers to buy.
Making it easy to pay, easy to order, or easy to reach you can increase your sales more than you think.
I wish more places understood this. Some processes still feel like trying to gain admission into a Nigerian university.
Generate an invoice, go to the bursary, head to the bank, come back with a teller, then join another queue.
Customers naturally gravitate toward the easier option.

@tcee_tochi You literally taught him how to scale his business overnight... for free. Something that might've cost him a fortune if you were the all-about-the-money kind of guy. Good job. 👍

@mrhighfoster Thanks, brother. I really appreciate that. I'll keep sharing my thoughts. 🤝

Tems didn't speak until she was three years old and used music as her main way to express herself
She is 31 years old
In high school, she was bullied for her deep voice and sang in falsetto to sound more "feminine"
Her mom only let her listen to Christian music as a kid. She discovered R&B and hip-hop in her teens
At 15, she stopped listening to other artists entirely to develop her own unique sound and identity.
She started writing songs around age 9 or 10, but her first official song around 17 was about "a Sunday morning"
Almost all her music is created through freestyling in the studio.
She taught herself how to produce and engineer beats by watching YouTube tutorials
Before music fame, she studied economics at Monash South Africa (IIE MSA) in Johannesburg
Tems worked a corporate 9-5 job in digital marketing and quit in 2018 after a devotional message pushed her to go full-time with music
She once cooked peppery chicken stew and rice for Drake and his team. They loved it despite the spice... Hehe
She's a huge tea lover, thanks to her British-Nigerian dad's side
Tems describes her early music journey as being "born in the wilderness" Facing mental struggles and doubters while quitting her job to chase music
.
.
.
.
You've seen it all for yourself
Tems is currently at 39.9 million monthly listener on Spotify.
But after reading all these above, you can see why she achieved this.
She used the entire of her childhood to do the one thing she's so good at.
And then used her teenage period to fine tune her own uniqueness.
.
.
.
She has literally spent around 2 decades just doing one thing. Music
Imagine you put in over 20 years in your own craft
Just imagine how much better you'd have gotten.
.
.
And this shows that nothing beats long term planning.
.
.
So today, kindly sit down and think of something you really love doing.
Something that you know very well can open doors for you in future, if you put in more efforts and attention to it.
Then take that thing and go after it.
Don't plan anything about it now.
Just do something.
Get that motion.
Open that app and create something.
Go to the market and get that tool to start.
Call that person to send a demo practice to them.
.
.
Just make sure you get your motion activated.
And then be true to it. Don't be distracted.
If you focus on it close enough, you will be surprised at how much that one thing would change your life.
This is what I plan on doing. This is what you should plan on doing.
Just do it and be true to it.
And do it today
.

@tcee_tochi We've all been there, and some of us are still dealing with it in different ways. That's why we have to keep working on ourselves. It might be hard to change his mind, but if you guide him well, he might eventually see reason to change and rise above that peer pressure.

One of the boys who works with me came to meet me looking really worried.
"Oga, abeg show me how to borrow money for PalmPay."
The urgency in his voice made me think something serious had happened.
I asked if everything was okay.
He said yes.
I asked if there was a family emergency.
He said no.
I asked if someone was sick.
He said no.
I was beginning to imagine the worst.
Then he finally said,
"I just want to complete my money and buy iPhone 12 Pro Max."
I asked him why.
His current phone was barely a year old and worked perfectly.
He smiled and said, all his peers have upgraded.
He is the only one still using this one.
I asked if the new phone would help him make more money.
He said no.
I asked if the old one was faulty.
He said no.
Then he looked at me and said that he just feels somehow whenever he is with his peers.
From his explanation, it is truly touching his confidence.

@cutestellz @tcee_tochi Yup... if they're cool with it and can afford it.
English

@IdrisnotElbaX @tcee_tochi Will he cook the said fresh meal everyday?
English

I heard one of the strangest reasons for delaying marriage last Sunday.
I was at a naming ceremony, and the table where a group of young men sat had a very interesting conversation.
Someone asked one of them,
"Why aren't you married yet?"
He smiled and said,
"I haven't found a woman who will cook fresh food for me every single day."
Everyone laughed.
I thought he was joking.
Then his closest friend said,
"He's serious. He's ended two relationships because of it."
According to him, his mum raised them on freshly cooked meals every day.
So now...
No refrigerated food.
No leftovers.
Just fresh food, every single day.
English

@IdrisnotElbaX I agree.
There's nothing inherently wrong with that preference if both people genuinely want the same lifestyle and are honest about it from the beginning.
The key isn't whether it's possible, it's finding someone whose expectations match yours.
