I've been recently thinking a lot about the Web, frameworks, why we do what we do, and why it matters at all. Back in November I joined @Cloudflare to help build a better Web. I'm stoked about the opportunity ahead, and I'm now happy to share my story: igor.dev/posts/experien…

@TIDAL Don’t be building a silo. Make the app great and allow it to seamlessly interop with competitors so you compete on sound quality and UX and not stickiness of the subscription.

@TIDAL I also want to share music with people not (yet) on Tidal. In the past I could share a link and it would allow them to play the song on Tidal or streaming service they were subscribed to. That’s now gone, which is sad and big step backwards.

I don't have a problem with making new RPC systems! I can stop any time I want! But I don't want to. So I made a new one for you. It's called Cap'n Web. It's like Cap'n Proto RPC, except focused on working great in browsers and JavaScript/TypeScript servers. (Links in thread.)

@dok2001 @naveedahmed Same applies to react/remix/rr7/etc. just a general best practice. Node compat is great if you need to run an existing app or reach for a node specific library.

@dok2001 @naveedahmed I haven’t actually tried yet, but possibly! I would still recommend going nodeless which Angular natively supports. Previous gen frameworks like Angular or React tend to be quite inefficient on the server so running them with as few dependencies as possible is highly recommended

@KentonVarda It’s not common to see yellow paint being used. So this is an exception and not the norm.

@IgorMinar Yes, it's the same in the US except the dashed line would be yellow. The thing I find weird is that they are still painting the dashed lines in white when they clearly have yellow paint available...

In North and South America, the center line of a road is yellow. In the entire Eastern Hemisphere, it is white -- and essentially indistinguishable from same-direction lane separators. How did this happen? When people can't even agree on which side of the road to drive on?

@KentonVarda Two way road, on which you can pass slow traffic, but only from the lane that touches the dashed line. Usually used when passing in the other direction would be dangerous due to limited visibility (a dip - like above, or a curved road).

@KentonVarda It’s not common to have multilane roads that don’t have a wall-of-some-kind in between. So it’s less of a problem. But I do agree that yellow line is better.

Also, like, not to be chauvinist or anything, but isn't a yellow center line *obviously better*? How do you tell whether you're crossing into oncoming traffic in the Eastern Hemisphere?

@JohnRodkey @dok2001 @zeeg We use it in newly rewritten portions of dash.cloudflare.com as well as in some of our internal research apps. It’s been refreshing to see innovation in the frontend space after many years of just minor tweaks on existing approaches.

I want to PoC a SPA with polymorphism that can SSR=>SPA post-load. This has been my holy grail UX, but I'm struggling to find a solution that does it. Is there anything out that there might pull it off today? I'm ok abandoning the React ecosystem at this point.

@brandontroberts @AlanAgius4 @angular It would be interesting to diff ng updated app vs ng new and copying the few files. If the diff is close to 0 then that would be a sign of huge success of ng update working as intended.

TIL the @Angular CLI won't even let you upgrade more than one major at a time anymore 👀
