I’ve defended Mendoza from a lot of unfair criticism (imo) but this is inexcusable and indefensible.

Luke Murray has hired a pair of assistants to his staff at BC, sources told CBS Sports: Florida Gulf Coast's Kyle Griffin and Pitt's Tim O'Toole. Both were associate head coaches and have longstanding ties to the northeast. Should be key resources in Year 1 in Chestnut Hill.

NEWS: Pitt men's basketball assistant coaches Jason Capel and Tim O'Toole will not be with the program next season. Capel (brother of head coach Jeff Capel) and O'Toole have been on Jeff Capel's staff since he was hired in the spring of 2018.

@DixonDisciple Not defending Caple but seems pretty weird a lot of the former players are calling out the school and boosters for finding the money to fire and pay the buyout while also barely giving any money for the team to use to invest for better players

It’s not worth arguing over this (because he’s getting fired), but I’m shocked that people are making excuses for Capel. He’s done a good job spreading a narrative that he didn’t have support / its impossible to win at Pitt.
He’s not a good coach, and didn’t win nearly enough.

While the transfer portal has closed, football players may still withdraw from their current schools and enroll at other institutions. Universities have consistently resisted classifying athletes as employees. Their position on the issue has led to this situation.
