@meawnz My interpretation is that coastal shipping just carries cargo, so no roll on roll off of trucks etc.

@Ilikelookingat I heard an RNZ interviewee say it is cheaper to buy grain from Australia and ship it to the North Island than buy South Island wheat and ship it from there.

@Kiwipally Yeah we are single income as well. Seems like many things are going up higher than the inflation rate (to me anyway).

@Ilikelookingat All our bills are rising so fast as well. We're on a fixed income as only my partner can work. His pay raise last year was not even close to covering all these expense increases.

Got some quotes for comparison. One large insurance provider wouldnt even give me a quote. Risk of inundation, a creek is 1 km away. Wondering if insurance companies risk appetite is getting less & less as they better understand risk & with impacts of climate change.

Just got our home insurance bill, its risen by 33.1% from last years premium. Unfortunately I didnt get a pay rise of 33% this year.....
