@TheAFDPodcast I would inevitably drive faster when the faster tempo songs came on. This speeding ticket was either Shotgun Blues or Get In The Ring :)

Navy ships have hundreds of crew, so there’s usually a trained barber—or at least one guy who can run clippers without creating a war crime. Merchant ships have 25 people. So you get TERRIBLE haircuts. But I’ve never before seen one bad enough to trigger NATO Article 5.

Paul McCartney is releasing a new album in two weeks and The Rolling Stones are releasing a new album in 8 weeks. As a mega lover of both I’m SO excited. And Guns N’ Roses?

@GadSaad You’re now in Boston, safely wedged among the classics. (In fact, right next to Shakespeare’s Timon of Athens, the wealthy Athenian whose defining trait is extravagant, boundless empathy & generosity as performance and self-image)

@marcorandazza Poland is one of the few in NATO that takes Russia seriously, is well armed, and will actually fight.

If you're in NATO and have a problem with a fellow NATO member just flying over your country, then get the fuck out of NATO. Unless you're Poland, no great loss anyway.

@bhalligan @gradypb My hunch is that spelling out where you can sign significantly lean on AI for analysis and decision-making, and where you likely can’t (both today and in, say, 18 months), could be useful. There’s everything from garbage to brilliance in AI’s analyses of large troves of data.

I got a chance to interview Jack Dorsey for the Long Strange Trip pod about his new article (in comments) on how to build a modern ai native company in 2026. I took some of his ideas and mixed them with some observations about the hyper scaling ai native CEOs I work with every day. This is a first draft. Thoughts? If this is landing, I can flesh it out more.

@bhalligan None of those jobs are about the science & engineering of products, deep domain expertise. I suspect those roles will continue to be indispensable. COBOL is 70 years old, running a great deal of critical infrastructure. A hot CMO (like me) isn’t going to write /debug that code

@marcorandazza It’s been 38 years! (And 39 since you left Pump Up The Jam playing in your room, as you left for the weekend.). Sending you an email (which immediately grants me attorney/client privileges).

I do not mind ICE being deployed to airports to support, or even supplant, TSA. But, if they're gonna do the job, they should do it better. I want to see them hitting people, beating them, and berating them. I WANT performative fascism at the airport. You motherfuckers who hold up the line because you're stupid, your time of reckoning has come. Yeah, you who can't move your goddamn shit out of the way once it comes out of the scanner, you idiots who think you can wear a flava flav clock around your neck and go through the metal detector. You who won't get out of the way and go put your belt or shoes on over at the bench... Then I want angry ICE agents helping load the plane. You pretend you don't understand enough English to get the concept of "Zone 1" or "Preboarding?" I have been to Shitholeistan, and I know you do the same fucking thing there. You can't get the fuck out of the aisle so that the other 280 people behind you can get on the plane? You think the laws of physics don't apply to your carry-on? It's truncheons time.

@bhalligan What’s your sense of biggest reason people move West? (Mine is that West Coast VCs are less risk averse, willing to take bigger swings; and the volume of quality talent. But maybe that’s wrong/outdated.)

Klaviyo cofounders Ed Hallen and Andrew Bialecki are donating $6 mil to MIT aimed at keeping more entrepreneurs in the Boston area instead of decamping to California. This is one of several great initiatives designed to make Boston a fertile ground to start & scale.
