To investigators, he coldly explained: “I take the knife with my left hand, I stand up calmly, I reach him, I move slightly ahead of him, I stab him in the neck, I check if I did it well. Then I walk past him.” Another son of Italy killed by uncontrolled immigration. For him, no street protests, no dedicated days of mourning, no 24-hour media coverage.

His name was Deepak U. He was 42 years old. A sales officer at a textile firm in Kozhikode Kerala. On January 16 he was travelling on a KSRTC bus to Kannur for work. A woman on the bus filmed a video and posted it on social media. She alleged he had touched her intentionally. The video got 20 lakh views. Deepak had no idea the video existed until his friend told him. He denied it completely. He spent the next 48 hours in mental agony as strangers judged him based on a 30 second clip. On the night of January 17 he told his friend he wanted to meet a lawyer. He was confident of his innocence. On the morning of January 18 his parents knocked on his door. He did not respond. They found him hanging. The woman was arrested for abetment of suicide. She was denied bail. In India a 30 second video can take a man’s life before any investigation begins. No court. No inquiry. No due process. Just a post. And then a funeral.
