I used to make a full time living as a writer but rates have dropped. Places that gave me $1 per word two years ago now pay .50 cents or less. Big magazines have hired me, but only occasionally do I get $2 per word. I mostly get $1 per word or less.

@viajoshhunt I've been struggling with finding good rates. One major paper, that's been around for over a century, still hovers at $1/word. Maybe a bit more. Which is too low nowadays, especially given my experience. Other issue is radio silence from editors. Nobody is responding to pitches.
