for those just now becoming interested in Nazis, The Rise And Fall Of The Third Reich by William L Shirer recounts in fascinating, firsthand detail all the ways Hitler was a fool, a slave to his own emotions, and a complete failure who brought his country and people to utter ruin

Here’s a famous economist essentially dismissing the new antimonopoly movement as a bunch of elitist hipsters. Weird, right? Let’s put this in context with a short🧵.

Some of the neo-Brandesian views (like the hatred for Wal-Mart 15 years ago) often seems grounded less in consumer welfare and more in a view that everyone should be shopping at expensive craft boutiques in Brooklyn instead of buying inexpensive tacky mass produced stuff.

Sade is so supreme it’s almost 40 years & not one soul has corrected her in omitting NYC outta her Key Largo rhyme scheme.

The Dreaming is my fav Kate Bush album because it’s one of those rare pieces of music that has intense theater kid energy but is so committed to what it’s doing that it becomes legitimately transcendent. It ruptured a lot of my opinions on “unsavory” theatrical art lol.

@limitlessjest Um... what? All modern crocodilians (alligators, crocodiles, caimans, gharials) diverged from a common ancestor in the Cretaceous (~80mya) and are more closely related to each other than to any non-crocodilians (i.e., crocodilians are a monophyletic clade). (1/2)

Just found out that Tom Abbs, co-owner @northernspyrecs, played music with Kenny G. "I remember his dog more than I remember him."

@GoodWillsmith As corny as the lyrics are, I always thought he sells them well. It didn’t work on subsequent albums (or for other bands) and it speaks to the singularity of the moment they captured

i actually don’t care about this at all & i know i am falling right into the trap here & yet i am compelled by forces beyond my understanding to say that Turn on the Bright Lights still slaps, nothing but wall to wall bangers, no need for reevaluation

we've now reached the "it's actually totally cool and normal for our fav socialist yaaas kween politician to go to exclusive opulent gatherings of elites bc she's spreading class consciousness there!" level of derangement in the AOC cult fandom

honestly wondering if any “rock band” that existed in any form in 1966 went as hard as The Monks. vocal performances especially. was anyone else in similar zones? & like.. who heard this at the time ? I know this is an age old question but every time I listen, I wonder

Bands that are named after genres they don't play: Jungle, Black Midi. Any others?
