#Uganda Women Human Right Defenders are targeted both as defenders of rights, land and natural resources, and as women defying gender norms. In these struggles, women experience all the hardships of human rights defenders, but also cope with gender-specific violence and risks.

The rush for critical minerals shouldn’t threaten human rights along the entire value-chain. As the world continues to face the dramatic consequences of climate change, there is a need for urgent action and calls for energy transition hence demand for critical minerals.

Despite the contradiction with global climate change goals, ongoing investments in fossil fuels, including coal, highlight how countries prioritize energy security in their development agendas. However, there is a growing need to balance energy, economic, and environmental needs.
