I've been thinking lately about the concept of awe, and how we need more of it these days. Watch this for your weekly dose. It sure inspired awe in me. x.com/SpaceX/status/… Elon describes the inevitable evolution beyond Earth bound terawatt chip fabrication: an electromagnetic mass driver on the Moon, constructed and operated by Optimus robots alongside human crews. The Moon’s vacuum and 1/6 gravity become profound advantages: no atmospheric drag, no need for chemical rockets. Payloads can be accelerated directly to escape velocity from the lunar surface, collapsing launch costs and unlocking petawatt-scale computation in deep space, vast orbital arrays for AI, solar power, and beyond. He frames it as the clear path to galactic civilization: a thousandfold leap in capability, born from first principles and the physics of our nearest celestial neighbor. Elon’s key words: “How to get to a petawatt is the obvious next question.” “You get there by having an electromagnetic mass driver on the Moon — with robots, with Optimus, and obviously lots of humans.” “The Moon has no atmosphere.
