@BungeLaMayut The statement IEBC made was very simple and clear...they were not supposed to clarify anything...actually stations like NTV...were the ones who misled kenyans...its the media that misunderstood that statement and spread misinformation..

Again, we ask: why is it that when Kenyans raise concerns, the very institutions meant to respond become condescending? We are one year to an election, a moment that requires the highest level of public confidence and cooperation. A Commissioner cannot be on TV dismissing questions by a public they are meant to serve as "a statement being blown out of proportion.” What happens on election day should questions about irregularities come up? IEBC is already operating under low public trust. In such a context, even a full stop or misplaced comma can trigger public concern. Perception is as important as process. Whether people can read or understand English is neither here nor there. Communication from an institution like IEBC must be clear, precise and incapable of multiple interpretations. Ambiguity (and silence) creates doubt.

Ann Nderitu, IEBC Commissioner: Our statement requiring old voters pre-2012 to register afresh is written in English, but Kenyans have misinterpreted it. #NTVWeekendEdition @MichelleNgele_

@VictorMakau17 @BungeLaMayut Please Victor, the first statement read: "Kenyans who registered before 2012 to register afresh." I registered in '06 and updated my status in '12. They have my biodata, I don't have to register again. They should have specified "Kenyans who didn't update their status in 2012."

@dr_Osiani @MarthaKarua I have, and therefore I don't need to go to register again. The point is, such important info should be so clear that there's no room for confusion and misinterpretation.

The right to vote is not conditional, it is guaranteed under Article 38 of our Constitution! Any move that effectively forces Kenyans who registered before 2012 to re-register, in a short period of time, before the next poll raises serious constitutional concerns. Under Articles 81 and 86, the IEBC is obligated to ensure a voting system that is inclusive, transparent, and does not disenfranchise any citizen. Kenyans cannot be punished for administrative transitions within the Commission. The burden must never shift to the voter. Further, the IEBC should confirm or deny that it cannot account for over 20,000 KIEMS kits or the tampering with voters' data on its public portal. The IEBC must urgently convince Kenyans that their move is in good faith and not in any way intended to disenfranchise voters. It should thereafter clarify how it will guarantee that no eligible Kenyan, especially the elderly and those in remote areas, is locked out of the 2027 elections. We remind the IEBC that they have a duty to build, not destroy confidence with the electorate. Kura zetu ni haki yetu. We will not stand by as bureaucratic processes threaten the sovereignty of the people. We will defend that right. #KuraYetuHakiYetu

IEBC Shocker: Electoral agency asks voters listed before 2012 to register afresh; chairman Ethekon says current list only covers post-2012 names and old ones who submitted biometrics.

@MarthaKarua Re-registering pre-2012 voters cleans the biometric roll of ghosts and outdated manual data, strengthening electoral integrity under the Constitution—not violating rights. A simple, inclusive 30-day drive ensures accuracy for credible 2027 polls.

@Ademba_47 I think polling station is assigned on the day. Since the polling station is the classroom you'll get in. In 2022 maybe ulkuwa classroom 1. 2027 labda utakua classroom 3. At least, that's what I've thought.

IEBC, unless mnataka vita, please explain to me: Mbona sina poling station na poling station number? Na pia, if those who registered before 2012 voted in 2022, why do they need to register again? Please explain to us as if you are talking to Karen Nyamu ama Sudi. #LindaKadi

@johnnjenga Separating the Mau Mau liberation war from the Jaramogi's political struggle is an effort in futility. Many Luos were also involved in the armed struggle in different capacities. A man who can't speak a word in Olusuba which is a Bantu language can be forgiven for the ignorance.

It is your time to eat, so, eat quietly, that is fine. But, a red line: do not dance on Mau Mau graves. If not for a slight mapping change in 1901, this fellow would be selling a different revisionist history in Uganda. Do not dance on Mau Mau graves. ⚖️

@korindayuda @Jay_Kiriga @Gathumbi001 @carienimwa Waaaa! Did he specify that only those not registered? Kwani what does: "Kenyans" mean? and what does: "Before 2012 mean"? Because of that ambiguity, now people are whipping others emotions: "O they want to disqualify us because of double registration." You don't see a problem?

@korindayuda @Jay_Kiriga @Gathumbi001 @carienimwa Say I bring a prescription to you and the doctor is not clear on what meds you're to give me. Will you go ahead and give me a bagful of meds without clarity on where I'm ailing? Election matters are volatile. If you believe that statement is clear... To each his own.

@korindayuda @Jay_Kiriga @Gathumbi001 @carienimwa It's simple, yes. Ergo, those who voted in 2013, 2017, 2022 don't need to register. But saying "Kenyans who registered before 2012 must register afresh" you don't see a problem in that statement?

@korindayuda @Jay_Kiriga @Gathumbi001 @carienimwa Is it? Which Kenyans is he talking about? Those who were away and are back and want to vote? Those like me whose biometrics are already in their database? A check on the register shows I'm registered, why shud I register again? I hope you're trying to be the devil's advocate.

@korindayuda @Jay_Kiriga @Gathumbi001 @carienimwa See I don't know much, but I know you should never make statements that are open to different interpretations. Especially in a hot topic like this. He's not a politician, his statements should be crystal clear with no room for misinterpretation or cause confusion.

@korindayuda @Jay_Kiriga @Gathumbi001 @carienimwa Eg, I registered in '06. Voted in '07 and '10 for the referendum. I updated my status in 2012. His statement says: "Kenyans who registered as voters before 2012 must register afresh." This includes me and as far as I know I shouldn't have to register afresh.

@korindayuda @Jay_Kiriga @Gathumbi001 @carienimwa They're saying "Voters registd before 2012". That implies all voters registd before 2012. If targeting guys like you who haven't participated when biometrics were in play, they should be specific. That's the head of IEBC, he has comms expats in his team! Ambiguity will not work.

@SERKALNDOGO @TonyGachok15769 We understand the word "before" alright. I registered as a voter in 2006. I voted in 2007, 2010 referendum, 2013, 2017, and 2022. Therefore, if IEBC doesn't have my biometrics how did I vote in 2022?

IEBC AND WILLIAM RUTO YOUR GAMES WON'T WORK! In 2012, IEBC CONDUCTED fresh voter registration of voters to capture their biometrics. It was during this mass voter registration that BVR kits were first used. KENYANS who voted in 2013, 2017, and 2022 ARE ALREADY registered using biometrics. IEBC chair Ethekon should avoid making statements intended to cause confusion and instead clarify the following issue for us: ✅ Total number of verified voters nationally and per county ✅ The exact number of registered voters per county whose biometrics were not captured in 2012, and therefore have not had a chance to vote since 2013. The rabbit hole gets deeper and convoluted. Kalonzo gatekeeps the Kamba vote, cheating them that "this time I will be the president." His empty rhetoric is propelled by a fake media that thrives on propaganda and emotional headlines. While doing this, he blinds them as they vote for his cronies, who loot Kambaland's natural resources and taxes. Kambaland governors are on a looting spree as Wa'Kamba sit in a stupor, waiting for a Kalonzo moment that remains elusive. Well, do you know the formation of the current ruling party [UDA] was partly funded by Mr Muthama, who owns a mining license that allows him to mine rare gemstones like Ruby Red and Green Garnets? Yet Kalonzo and Muthama are political friends. "Mblaza, go to Ruto, and I remain with Raila. Whoever wins is a win-win for us all." — Political cousins. Kamba-land, which boasts massive natural resources such as wildlife and minerals, has remained impoverished. Kambaland has the most significant economic corridor between Nairobi and Mombasa/Lamu/Garissa, which can turn Kambaland into an economic powerhouse in the transport industry. Wakamba are exemplary tyre technicians. Why can't we harness this cultural skill and turn it into a million-dollar industry? They have vast land watered by Kenya's giant rivers — Tana and Athi, Galana, and Sabaki. They have 400 million tonnes of the world's most sought-after non-renewable fossil fuel — COAL! But now, the Kamba's only economic resource is sand harvesting, yet minerals and precious gemstones are stolen by these same politicians. Musyoka will come again this time to tell Kambas that he will topple Ruto, and Kambas will be hypnotised by that deceitful euphoria. — "Wantam, Wan-bullet, WaMusyoka." After every election, these conniving politicians meet with political wheeler-dealers to collect paychecks as Kambas remain impoverished. These career "opposition politicians" don't have a transformative agenda. They are part of the mess. They simply camouflage and posture as "saviours" because they have not been invited to the looting table. However, their role is to keep the masses occupied with infertile opposition politics, so that the people cannot revolt against political brinkmanship and conmanship. They keep the masses occupied with political clownery and fiction while ignoring the fundamental problems that are disturbing our people. Then, when the infertile opposition goes to Kamba-land, instead of having a conversation that will liberate Kambas from economic slavery, all they tell them is, "Hi, Cousins!" - and the hypnotised Kambas respond, "Aiiii" Wake up!
