Not in terms of quality, but in terms of what the creators have expected you to have already watched. It CAN work, but newcomers are going to wonder what the appeal is.

@zweiwalker89607 In the "WW2 in Space" film that it is, Vader in ANH basically serves the SS Officer role in the film. The regular army guys look down on him because on paper he's outside their chain of command and like those older movies have to be reminded where his authority comes from.

@bestofstarwar Hollywood just doesn't have this cadre of talented but fairly unknown character actors it can call on for bit roles like this hanging around the British theater scene or waiting around the backlots while in-between bigger roles in B-movies looking for a quick paycheck anymore.
