@McCainMuse3 Not really worried about round 1, it’s a toss up who wins those play in games anyway. I’m more worried about who we’ll see round 2. I’m hoping for rockets/lakers to end 4 and 5 seed. I’d prefer to avoid Nuggets and Timberwolves.

The level of expectation of certain guys vs Luka/Joker is funny to me. We glaze guys like SGA/Kawhi for basically their only real expectation on their teams is to score. Don’t have to be the primary playmaker, got other guys around them to carry the defensive and rebounding load. Meanwhile you got Luka/Joker who basically have to be the primary scorer, playmaker and rebounder on their teams yet somehow those other guys get talked about the way they do.

This graphic ALONE proves that Luka Doncic is the clear MVP 🎙️ 🎙️ The criteria is “Most Valuable” to your team, and the same people that are saying Shai is the MVP, had OKC penciled in for 58 wins while they had the Lakers missing the play-in. Furthermore, OKC is on a 55 win pace without Shai this season (a 67% win percentage) while the Lakers are 6-6 (.500 without Luka Doncic) 🗣️🗣️ This shouldn’t even be a debate— Luka Doncic is easily the MVP.

U can use Luka’s team being worse to bolster his MVP case, but u shouldn’t use SGA’s team being good against him. By doing that you are basically playing out a “what if” he was on a worse team.

Luka’s counting stats literally always look insane. It’s hard to find a 10 game stretch where he doesn’t put up numbers. Do you not agree that he’s been better as of late? He’s been by far the best defender he’s been in a Laker jersey, he’s averaging just 3.0 turnovers per game since the all star break, he’s avoided the disaster 2 for 10 from three type of games, his team is racking up wins… To me, that’s the standard. Not just putting up numbers. Playing excellent, well rounded basketball in multiple facets, and winning basketball games.

@BiasedSlightly Totally disagree. The Thunder have proven this season they are still a very good team when Shai is out. The Lakers have proved they are a below average team when Luka is out. Luka is leading the league in scoring, while averaging more assists, rebounds, and steals than Shai.

U can go on all u want about jersey sales and all star votes - SGA just won a chip, 2025 MVP, and is on pace to win 2026 MVP. They’re both generational players, but SGA has been better recently.

Yea I just disagree with the premise. “We saw Jokic and Russ win MVPs with worse seeds.” Well, they weren’t competing with 2026 SGA. The question isn’t “is Luka having an MVP-caliber season?” It’s “who is the most valuable player of this season?” Each MVP race is its own thing.

What about the part where nobody thought the Lakers were going to be any good and he has them as the 3 seed whereas everyone had OKC as the overwhelming favorite and they have a winning record without SGA? I get that won’t matter though cuz voters would have to basically be admitting they were wrong about the Lakers. As far as the stats go I guess if we have to go in that deep whatever but you can also just say Luka is up in the 3 main statistical categories and the team has a losing record without him. I mean we saw Russ and Jokic win mvps on worse seeds simply cuz their stat lines

@PluckOg @AndrewDBailey Casual take. You just see higher numbers and think Luka is better. SGA actually averages more points per 36 minutes than Luka, but his main case for MVP is the fact that he is shooting 55.4% from the field while averaging 32ppg. He is also Clutch POY and broke Wilt's record.
