@SleeperMets It’s not a steal at all Robert was a deeply depreciating asset that was not been a good player or healthy in over 2 years. Making any kind of move for him was foolish period. This is not even factoring in 20 million salary and a 2 million buy out. It was a bad move period.

People complain about the addition of Robert, but David Stearns honestly pulled off a steal.
The asking price for Robert at the trade deadline was a mix of Vientos/Baty/Acuna + a top prospect.
Waiting got Stearns his guy just for the price of Acuna… who would’ve provided nothing.

When Rafael Devers is at his best, he has the ability to be a top 15-20 hitter. Making the move would allow the Giants to offload the contract — giving the Mets a foundational piece next to Juan Soto.

David Stearns will go down as the worst executive to ever run a NY sports team. Years from now there will be case studies on how poorly he mismanaged the @Mets and how his narcissism and refusal to recognize failure caused immense harm to this team. Coupled with the fact that during his tenure, the Mets have more resources than they ever have had, @StevenACohen2 decision to place Stearns at the helm will be viewed as his greatest business failure and will overshadow anything great he’s done in the world of finance. David Stearns has caused so much damage and continues to. And cohen sits idly by and watches. As a fan it is just so sad to watch.
