Fifteen days ago, she shot and killed her boyfriend with her licenced handgun. What’s crazier is that 10 days later, she was murdered by the same accomplice who had helped her kill her boyfriend. Her licenced handgun was seized five months earlier (November 2025) after she allegedly shot her boyfriend once before. Yet, it was later returned to her via court order. Twice married, both relationships failed, a turbulent personal life and now a chain of violence ending in two deaths. So who's responsible? The DM who issued the licence? The judge who ordered the weapon returned? This is largely accurate. Under the Arms Rules, 2016, prior permission from DGCA is required. The firearm must be unloaded, with the firearm and ammunition stored separately, and the package must be clearly marked on the outside. Goes without saying, if your licence area validity is restricted to a district or state, you will need a transit permit (Journey Licence – Form XI) for inter-state travel.
