Europeans love to lecture the world on “free media” while many of its outlets are backed by political blocs, state funding, corporate interests, and ideological gatekeeping. Indian media is loud because India itself is loud, democratic, chaotic, multilingual, and brutally open. Every ideology fights in public. Nothing is hidden behind polished accents and curated narratives. Europe calls that “messy.” I call it real democracy. I’d take Indian media over Europe any day.

The Norwegian journalist who stopped PM Modi for a question has no manners. This isn’t how a democratic country works. Our journalists don’t heckle ministers. They sit politely and ask important, respectful questions like: How do you eat mangoes? Where do you keep your purse? How do you get so much energy? Norwegian journalists should learn something first.

My colleague and I asked questions tonight both on why we should trust India given the human violations rights, and also about the visit. I tried multiple times to get them to be specific on human rights, but I was unsuccessful. The representatives talked about India’s effort during Covid & also yoga, among other things. My colleague has the videos so I will try to publish tomorrow.
