All I can say is that Canada is damn lucky to have Alberta and Saskatchewan and oil despite wanting to carbon tax the crap out of it.

Canada is the only G7 country without any gold reserves despite being the world's fifth-largest gold producer. In 1965, Canada's gold reserves peaked at ~1,023 tonnes. Over the following decades, it sold virtually all of its gold at an average price of ~$122/oz in favor of Treasuries because they were more liquid and offered a yield. That same gold would be worth over $130B today. Meanwhile, gold has become the largest reserve asset held by central banks. Don't be like Canada and sell your gold on the cheap.

@Primus_Artorius Artorius, my man! Hey I’m genuinely curious: If PEI or Ontario wanted independence, I don’t think I’d care in the slightest. Quebec tried twice, I didn’t care either time. But I get it, that’s me. Why do you seemingly care so deeply about Alberta voting for independence?
