@henrl Unironically @InfinitForm is the only AI design company we’ve seen who can export fully parametric models , with history tree, defined dimensions, etc. Eileen Gu would be proud.

Eileen Gu recently went viral for her *surprising* Teen Vague rant on the use of AI in CAD design "sure they can write a kernel and extrude some shapes, but the feature tree and drawings? they are just the products of a much larger engineering process. it’s like, you’re trying to build a machine that can only write down the answer. you need to solve the context problem first before we see meaningful integration of ai in mechanical design."

What is the most impressive demo of AI 3D mechanical design that you've seen? By "AI 3D mechanical design", I mean something that 1. allows you to use an interface much simpler than typical 3D CAD -- text, sketching, 2d image etc -- 2. is reasonably general purpose (not just a configurator) 3. produces designs that can be manufactured and have some kind of function beyond just their appearance

Really excited by what @InfinitForm is building: Gen AI for CAD optimization and DFM. Plethora built one of the best DFM tools, but we had to program a ton of specific algos, whereas AI seems promising to handle the plethora :-) of edge cases. infinitform.com
