is anyone building the Uber Courier + payment escrow for Facebook Marketplace. I love using Facebook Marketplace, but it's so annoying to go pick things up.
i use plasticity for engineering CAD. it’s the closest thing to NX’s direct modeling i’ve found. essentially, it’s what high complexity engineering companies are using (for modeling) and it’s almost free by comparison
it also looks great and runs on mac/linux
@bradr yes, "small non-motorized vessels like paddle boards and kayaks are legally vessels in California but require no registration, radio contact, or pre-clearance for short trips in SF Bay.
@henrl this is a bad idea unless you are familiar w the bay:
- wind, routinely blows > 20mph after 1pm on TI this time of year.
- tides (1.5+ kt peak during ebb / flood)
and need a marine radio.
We are building Atomic Studio to match the speed of our fab. It’s fast, browser-based, and collaborative. Layout, schematic, and simulation.
Here’s a side by side of Studio (left) and Klayout (right) moving through the same file.
recent favourite onshape shortcuts:
- shift-n
- q in sketch
- shift-x
- N
- (assem) s -> duplicate -> match edges on face
- space
- shift-i
also just learned about holding down Alt/Option and rotating left/right.
Eileen Gu recently went viral for her *surprising* Teen Vague rant on the use of AI in CAD design
"sure they can write a kernel and extrude some shapes, but the feature tree and drawings? they are just the products of a much larger engineering process. it’s like, you’re trying to build a machine that can only write down the answer. you need to solve the context problem first before we see meaningful integration of ai in mechanical design."
Super excited to announce our 165M Series B at @sundayrobotics to help us move from demos to a shipping product.
It's pretty insane the amount of progress over the last year, a year ago it was just a few people working together in a house in Mountain View.
We are still hiring aggressively across a bunch of different roles, and if you've shipped hardware before we would love to meet you!
