@matt02392 Are they not going to do anything about this? This is basically discrimination against disabled and low income people as it is very common here not to have a credit card and a high percentage of people don't drive.

Heads up to people in UK considering updating to iOS 26.4. If you don’t have a credit card or a driving license, you will not be able to verify that you’re over 18. Passports are not accepted and neither our debit cards. I’m blind, so can’t drive, and don’t have a credit card.

@slooterman I'd love to hear more of your thinking on this topic, though this probably isn't the easiest platform to discuss it from. I wonder if the autism spectrum is even the right way to frame neurodivergence, but it's what we've got for the moment I guess.

I don’t actually find masking personally helpful as a framework for understanding autism or support needs. I think it lets clinicians off the hook for historic diagnostic bias against women and girls.

@BirdOfFlower Some anxiety and other mental health medications have pretty drastic side effects to abruptly stopping them,, so doctors should try harder to prevent people from going through this. Can you taper your supply for the next couple of days so you won't run out sharply?

@Infosifter I tried that last time when they left me without for 5 days. But as it's not on my repeat list the pharmacy or 111 can't do anything. I appreciate the good wishes!

I have 3 days left of a prescription from the mental health team and my care coordinator isn't replying. If they leave me without medication again I'm not sure I can cope with my brain.

@BirdOfFlower So sorry this is happening and nothing works – I've been there and it's so devastating! If you can get hold of your clinician next time maybe discuss it with them? They might be willing to put a small number of repeats on or do something to prevent gaps

@RNIB I have an iPhone and the alert worked for me except that I had to wait until the sirens stopped to read and clear the message because I couldn't hear my speech over the siren. My husband uses a Blindshell phone and he got a notification but no siren.

@matt02392 It took me a long time to adapt to that. Eventually I started to do it for the sake of communicating with others, but for years I just used like to keep a sort of favorite tweets list

Asking this because of some interactions I've had on here. Am I the only Twitter old head still not liking tweets because it used to be the favourite function that we all used to use for bookmarking stuff? I just can't bring myself to use that feature. Odd, I know.

Hi everyone. I had taken a break from X for a while but I am slowly coming back. Pressure of work among other things has kept me away. But looking through my timeline tonight, I see I have missed it. Hope everyone is OK.

@MichiganPal Same here. I read for pleasure, and the last thing I need is for my reading enjoyment to be polluted by stress about reaching goals. (Lol))

@bmoore123 I can definitely believe that! I'm married, but even so I've chosen not to have kids because I don't think I could deal with it. It's hard enough managing my disabled life without adding the needs of a child.

well, knew this was coming. A return to office mandate. will be a bit of a rant over serveral posts. Lots of places are doing this so I am certainly not unique in that respect. However, it raises a few issues.

@bmoore123 But ultimately, we each need to evaluate our skills and needs and do what works best for us as individuals. If you were in your old building, you wouldn't even be thinking about asking for this accommodation. The circumstances have changed

@bmoore123 For me, the fact that you were the only disabled one is the defining factor. They don't need this accommodation, you do! The amount of energy we disabled people spend exhausting ourselves proving that were invincible and don't need any help usually just comes back to Harm us

@Infosifter fair point. However, as a manager, if I tell my team they have to comply with this mandate and then exempt myself from it, I look inconsistent at best. Granted I am the only blind one actually only disabled one but...

@bmoore123 I say stop worrying about so-called messages that are being sent and request the accommodations you need. You are a confident traveler. If you have trouble with this intersection with your guide dog, it would probably be one that was outright impossible for manu others.

While we were in another building before 2020 which was easier to get to, if I say that crossing a street I find stressful is a disability accommodation issue, what message am I putting out there about our capabilities?

@MeanderingPark there is a common view that cars are a luxury, and people should walk and cycle because it's better for them anyway. This may be true for many, but some disabled people will become more and more isolated Because there are so few places they can access

@MeanderingPark Yes, this! I am constantly dismayed to hear that new areas around me are pedestrianized. As a totally blind person, cycling is not an option for me. Because of fibromyalgia and other issues, I can't walk very far and because I'm blind I can't drive a mobility scooter. 1/2
