@bricycle Beautiful to see a cyclops in place. I'd like to see future ones sub 40° splays & maximise the useable space of the lanes.

If we look closely at the kerbs on the Cyclops junction in Preston, you can see the effort made to make it legible to visually impaired people. Full kerb heights, colour, and island separation of cycling and walking space even though they cross at the same time. Best practice IMO

Wow. I’ve just cycled the length of the #Chorlton cycleway in my lunch break to check on progress and bar the section over the bridge I only saw one cone and one barrier. So good to see the pavements and road free of all the clutter. 🐝 Eric Wright busy working to finish some of the surfacing but almost a clear run. It’s been a really hard and frustrating process and the level of vitriol we’ve had thrown at us as Councillors has been phenomenal. Whilst it may not be perfect, as someone who has cycled this route more days than not for 45 years, I have no doubt that the changes will not just improve lives, but will save lives! Cleaner air and safer, healthier more sustainable travel. And ultimately, as people’s confidence grows in using it, I’ve no doubt it will help reduce congestion and increase footfall for local traders. If not, I’ll eat my cycling hat!

@Zapaman @WalkRideGM Theres another new 5g mast a few 100m further up next to McDs also built after the widening. Same story. It was promptly crashed into at god knows what speed. That time a passenger died & left the mast near to collapse. Again rebuilt from scratch. Madness express.co.uk/news/uk/163901…

@Zapaman @WalkRideGM Back when I made this image that mast had only been installed a couple of weeks earlier.it didn't exist when MCC widened the Rd. It promptly got crashed into at 50/60 mph and totally destroyed. Its since been rebuilt in the same spot. Tldr : yes

There are nearly four times as many traffic lights per capita in Los Angeles than in Amsterdam. Stop-start movement is the price everyone pays for higher speeds. When most streets are 30 km/h or less, such interventions are rarely needed—allowing everything to flow more freely.

@alex_velovelo1 I agree, but NL is so far ahead of the UK and the UK is so far down a different rabbit hole that it wouldn't be just the odd driver, it would be hundreds a day. There's no right or wrong answer.

@InfraCGI Almost 10/10. In NL there would be no dangerous bollards in the cycle path. Safer to allow the odd a'hole driver to break the law than have an oldster come a cropper via the bollard.

A CGI to show how a modal filter can be a beautiful addition to the local streetscape whilst doing its job of preventing cut through motor traffic and still allowing active travel users to pass through unhindered. 🚲🌳
