In 1990 Kenya was'nt a big Economy, 30 years later we are No 6. South Africa has dropped to No 3 from No 1 (World Bank). Many have blamed corruption & state capture for the decline. I hope our IF will come with disciplined implementation & stronger financial governance

I proceed to request judgment in default as is required. The matter has been before the magistrate 3 times (today being the third) yet the magistrate can’t simply enter judgement in default and directs for a further mention date in July.

The new CoA bench will enhance access to appellate justice in the region. Ealier the CJ established CoA benches in Eldoret and Meru
Busy SCC stations got additional JOs e.g MSCC has 13 more. Decentralisation brings justice closer to the people & creates opportunities for members

Happy to have been part of this journey. For years, judges retired under the 1946 Pensions Act while other state and public officers had transitioned to a more progressive retirement regime. This move marks a significant milestone toward ensuring judges retire with dignity.

The enactment of the Judges’ Retirement Benefits Act strengthens the Judiciary and reinforces its independence by guaranteeing retirement benefits and safeguarding security of tenure. The new law establishes a Judges’ Retirement Benefits Fund for judges appointed after the commencement of the Act, with judges contributing 7.5 per cent of their basic salary and the Government contributing 15 per cent. It also provides additional benefits, including medical cover, diplomatic passports and access to government airport lounges, recognising the demanding nature of judicial service. Assented to the Judges’ Retirement Benefits Bill, State House, Nairobi.

Mental health is a fundamental human right even in places of detention. Today in Kakamega, I joined prison authorities and stakeholders to discuss strengthening mental health support in correctional facilities.

Today, my dear brother @Steveingutia marks 10 years of sobriety. Addiction took so much from him and from all of us. He openly speaks about his recovery, counting the days not just the years, as a reminder that sobriety is lived daily. This is redemption, resilience & courage.

Away from 'sample writings', together with PEV survivors and counsels representing victims of SV during conflict, we met with the Duchess of Edinburgh to discuss steps taken to promote accountablity and reparations. Later, I joined other women leaders to celebrate the #IWD2026
