I attended the official opening of the Tribunals Shared Services Centre in Nyeri, an initiative aimed at centralizing administrative support and registry functions for various tribunals. The initiative advances the devolution of tribunal services, reduces delays, and eliminates operational duplication. This is the second Centre after Nairobi and Kisumu. I reaffirmed the JSC's commitment to strengthening tribunals as key pillars of specialized justice delivery. I emphasized the importance of integrity, professionalism, accountability, and independence within tribunals in order to sustain public confidence and enhance the effectiveness of the justice system. I also highlighted key milestones achieved, including the renewal and appointment of tribunal members across several tribunals, the appointment of Acting Chairpersons to ensure continuity, and the successful operationalization of new tribunals. Currently, 75 advocates serve across different tribunals.

I commend @lawsocietykenya for the inaugural In-House Lawyers Caucus. The event which brought together advocates from public and private sector was impactful as it equipped attendees with practical skills in legal risk management, strategic leadership, crisis response, ethics, ESG compliance, data protection and strategic litigation. We also learnt about the growing importance of AI and legal technology in modern legal practice while encouraging professional growth, wellness, and personal branding. The choice of venue, the caliber of speakers, and the relevance of the topics were absolutely exceptional as they were thoughtful, timely and truly impactful in an era where we are navigating dynamic legal landscape. The networking sesssions were great too! A big congratulations to @NdindaKinyili and the LSK Secretariat led by WangariKagai for delivering such a well-organized, insightful, and memorable programme. The programme strengthened the capacity of in-house lawyers to serve as strategic business partners and effective leaders within their organizations.

It has been 22 years of finishing 8th, 5th, 4th or 2nd. We the funs always hoped for the Invincibles comeback. A session when the GOAT himself Thierry Henry was cooking defenders and the tall Wenger was wearing long coats (now they would call it subreme coat) 😂. If you missed a match you needed to wait to read how the game was in the local dailies. We trusted the process emotionally, come up with imaginary cups and entered every season with hope 'this is our year'. The abuses 'oh trophyless', memes and "math not mathing" to now an actual trophy. Ttrust the process 🙌🏾⚽. Leo silali.... thanks @bienaimesol for the HIT! #CONGRATULATIONSARSENAL

Last week as Chair of the Committee on Administration of Justice, I led colleagues from JSC during an engagement with the National Assembly Committee on Delegated Legislation for a pre-publication scrutiny of the Draft Judicial Service (Petition for Removal of a Judge) (Procedure) Regulations, 2026. The proposed Regulations seek to establish a clear, fair, transparent and predictable framework for handling petitions and Commission initiated (suo moto) proceedings for the removal of judges from office. This marks an important milestone as the regulations were developed after extensive public participation and stakeholder engagement involving members of the public, institutions, the @lawsocietykenya, individual practitioners, judges and other stakeholders. We received constructive feedback from members of the Committee ( majority of whom are members of the Law Society of Kenya). The feedback will go a long way in refining and strengthening the Regulations before gazettement.

Yesterday, heartbreaking news splashed across media outlets on the deaths of Kristabel, Jacky Videlis & Sally. Reports indicate that they lost their lives at the hands of their intimate partners.Outrage is not sufficient, collective preventive action is needed RIP #EndFemicide

There is something special about going back to where the journey began to share experiences & give hope to the next generation. In High School I was 'the CJ' while my BFF was the AG (we are now both advocates). Proud alumna of the great St Josephs Girls Senior School, Kitale.

@eraadie back then it was Ksh 10,000 today it is Ksh 30,000. A murder trial can take years, yet the amount is inclusive of transport, stationery, time, prison visits, court attendance and other incidentals. If that amount is not pro bono, then I honestly don't know what it is
Amos Adie@eraadie

@Ingutiah @kijomba1 If it's paid by the judiciary is it still pro Bono?

@MordecaiGitau1 How? It is a legal aid scheme by the Judiciary funded by the exchequer. A J /JO does'nt become the client or get's personal benefit. His/her role is ensuring that an indigent acc'd person’s right to rep. & fair trial is protected. For advocates its giving back
Mordecai G. Wainaina@MordecaiGitau1

@p_rotich @Ingutiah Haha, I thought the same. Conflict of interest perhaps?

@p_rotich with a huge number of Kenyans unable to afford legal fees, it is common practice for Judges or Magistrates to allocate pro bono briefs to advocates on the spot while in court. Unlike 18 years ago, currently the system is streamlined through Registars. So no CoI
@Kenyanspirit@p_rotich

@Ingutiah You didn't declare this during vetting.

“Ms Ingutiah, xxxx is now your client.....visot him in Kodiaga and be ready for trial in two weeks. The Judiciary will pay you.”.....That's how I got my first pro bono murder brief from J Warsame, 18 years ago. Congratulations on your swearing-in as a Judge of the Supreme Court

A legislature should set standards for society and not lower them. The unfortunate utterances weaken public trust & diminish the dignity of an office. The worst part is the attempt to make light of the situation and treat a serious issue as a laughing matter. #ProtectOurChildren

Congratulations to the newly sworn-in Judges of the HC and the ELC. The no of Judges has significantly increased i.e H.C at 115 and ELC at 61. This comes with greater call for performance, efficiency & and accountability. Serve with dedication, integrity, and passion.
